Recently tried playing blaze black 2 on challenge mode, but the grinding was too tedious before cheren. Ended up with a bold contrary snivy, impish simple bidoof, sassy analytic patrat, and neutral natured lilipup.

My team was shit and cheren wiped me.

Cool. OP here, so I'll start filling it out soon.

I started my LG Nuzlocke just a bit ago, I take my first step into Viridian Forest (honestly hoping for a Weedle) and I get this. Goddamn.

The ride continues! I had really high hopes for The Maw, was really crapped out he was killed so easily by a Diglett. Sandslash is one of my favorite pokemon, though, so I'm jazzed I got to catch one. It's a little underleveled, but I know it'll sweep Surge's gym no problem.

I don't know of any exact demakes (or Gen III-engine Johto ports) but try googling Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, or Pokemon Spirit Gold. Might not be what you're looking for but it could keep you occupied if you don't find it.
