There's only so many stat points a common mon can have 600 being the most it can hope for and 500-540. The more it receives on a single stat, the more it takes away for the others to have until it is very good at one thing but too specialized to be flexible enough to deal with the changing, unpredictable situations given in any battle. I like to call this the Aggron dilemma.
So yeah, I wouldn't be too worried about power creep of any form. As the game grows everything is bound to more or less reach a state of evenness anyways.
On the other hand as a Swamperfag, I'm very let down. The Mega's great, even if I expected it to be a bit bulkier, but lack of boosting options such as Bulk Up, Swords Dance recovery like Drain Punch, Slack Off or priority makes it worse than it could be. With two or even a single one of those it could be top OU but as things stand now its potential can only be realised in doubles or triples, where other megas absent in singles are much more popular than him.
I can only pray for the return of permanent rain to OU
