Fuck competitive battling.
There, I said it.
I bike simulate for hours to hatch mons with perfect IVs, painstakingly train them with ideal EVs and farm BP for days on end to get the best possible Tutor moves and held items money can buy. I've painstakingly chosen Pokemon who each compliment each other and cover one another's weaknesses, and I think to myself, "gee, that's a pretty good team you've got there, OP."
And then I go on Battle Spot Doubles, and fight the same 10 overpowered Pokemon over and over again, haphazardly thrown together with no thought, and I get wiped out 4-0. Or, If I'm lucky, 4-2.
And Smogon's not much better, except that it's less time-consuming.
Fuck it. I had more fun when I didn't know any of this shit. When I first got into Pokemon, I trained Pokemon I thought looked cool, and fought pretty much even matches against my friends.
I'm a grown-ass man for Christ's sakes. I've got better shit to do with my life than play some ridiculously imbalanced not-even-close-to-being-an-eSport casual game against autistic Mexicans from Distrito Federal.
Say hi to Ray Rizzo and the Pachirisu dude for me, because I'm going back to enjoying Pokemon.
