Are there actually people who think the Episode Delta has the best story ? Come the fuck on, it's just Nintendo giving away an Event mon and Rayquaza going Super Sayan, Zinnia was cool but one character doesn't make a game

The Magma story was also vastly improved by giving Maxie a more sensical motivation about unhindering scientific progress. They even tied it together with the Mega lore of XY and the Delta episode plot.

I can't comment on Aqua's story.

Mostly exaggerating, ignoring that those weren't their plans, and that it's a kid's game with a child protagonist, so it's ridiculous to say "It's too extravagant of a goal for villains".

That's not to say that ORAS is a masterpiece or anything, but it was certainly a step up from RSE. The characters all have a fair bit more personality, the teams have more clearly-defined goals, and the revised lore is much more compelling.

In my opinion ORAS did nothing but set things according to today's standards where there's no excuse for a context as poor as it was in RSE. I love the games with a passion but really they took the original content, added 3D + a few original places + soaring, and called it a finished product.

I think the pokemon world has potential for both kid and adult content. I'd like to see a spin off series with a darker tone, where pokemon actually die a la nuzlocke and the main story is not insulting, where money is scarce and items expensive, where you are not handholded and npc aren't nice to you for no reason.

Hell, maybe just let gamefreak fund a few adult pokemon novels, many videogames have done that.

The money issue is all I want for this series. I have never went into the Elite Four with less money than it takes to be able to buy enough revives and full restores to fully heal between each battle. It completely ruins the gauntlet aspect of the final stretch.

Johto wasn't exactly bad, it was the story of a dying organization and exploring what three years of degradation will do to you.

Kalos was one man losing faith in humanity and feigns an evil organization under him to match the man who lived for a thousand years and still has hope.

This and the horribly bland NPC dialogue in general. You get the occasional memorable thing such as that guy wanting to stick his face in a taurous, but I swear that about 80% of the npc trainers say 'Wow, you're a strong trainer!' or some variation on it.
