You had things like Red getting wounded in battle and having to do recovery in Mt.Silver
where he bathes with Sabrina, all the shit I mentioned about Gold being a sleazy motherfucker, or Ruby getting
attacked by a wild Salamence in his childhood and getting a huge scar on his head,which is why he wears the hat.
Of course, the protagonists always pass as good guys, but it's certainly more morally grey than Ash's fucking stupidity. Also, the villains are real genocidical sons of bitches. And I'm not talking about Giovanni.
