Empoleon is seriously overrated. Rocks/Defog is done better by skarmory, and being neutral to fire isnt much.

My team from when I hit 1600 was

It was pretty amazing, though I really had trouble with monowater and monoground. Then Aegislash got banned from monosteel and I lost interest cause I couldnt use my favourote pokemon on my favourite type team

Monotype is usually singles

Dragalge/Drapion/Weezing is my defensive core, usually leading with Dragalge for toxic spikes and Weezing shoots in a few Will-O-Wisps here and there while Drapion supports with Knock Off and taking assault vest hits like a pro.
Then I usually have Nidoking, Beedrill, and Subpunch Gengar.

Occasionally if the specific monotype rules allow, I'll swap Gengar for Mega Gengar and replace Beedrill with Toxicroak though. But most places play by smogon monotype and /vp/ restricts my Mega Gengar set.

It's the set I run and I've loved it ever since Gen 5. The coverage is amazing and monotype makes people use slow enough Pokemon that the lower speed isn't nearly as much of an issue as it would be in actual OU.

Are you running Adaptability? I'd probably replace Acid Armor if anything, Venom Drench would give your team more support, but it's sort of really situational. If your opponent runs a single poison type, your whole strategy is sort of lost.

It's what I was running until Dragalge got adaptability and I could surprise kill leads with Draco Meteor. But Tentacruel always served me well. The rapid spin support helped me so much I had to start putting defog on my Crobat because I missed that.
