Barely 2, maybe 3 years in its entirety of development on an entirely new engine while having to make and animate models for all 721 Pokemon along with the move animations and gorillions of formes and megas. Not even to mention amie bullshit, all the stuff for character customization, and none of that is even considering they fit 6 localizations all into the launch cartridge for a synced worldwide release
And that still doesn't touch on the actual game itself, just appearances.
I can't think of a team besides game freak to pull off something of that calibre in just 2 years.
