Megamence and Megagross: the Tourney ft. Skarmory and maybe Sableye. And Milotic depending on whether it can survive Aerilate Doulbe-Edge or how quickly it can take down Megagross.

Milotic is going to be great with Competitive and a custom EV spread that lets it survive Mence Double Edge.

Metagross only needs Ice Punch and Occa Berry in other to serve as a 1 time check against Mega Mence (which is not that bad considering it's 3v3 and a typical battle ends in under 10 turns).

You can also run a a second mega (because lets be honest, Mence is going to be mandatory) like Manectric for some ebin Intimidate + Magnet Rise sheningans.

Thats quite a lot of options already, pretty sure you can find more.

I shit you not, people surrender when they realise you have just boosted and your sub didn't break.
It's also 3v3 with a lot of the national pokedex threats gone, meaning walling this thing is even harder.

Methinks that Sub is not going to be as viable in this tourney as in 6v6 because there is a lot less switching involved, and people would rather let whatever is currently in battle die than let M-Mence set up. At least thats what I would do in this situation.

I mean Mega Blaziken is allowed, that might do something against Megagross. Anyone ever do calcs on that, or did nobody bother because smogon said you can't use Blaziken?

I've played in a WiFi Doubles Hoenn-dex only tournament and as gimmicky as it is, Shedinja is actually fantastic here.
There's no Sand Stream, no Snow Warning, Entry Hazards suck in 3vs3, no Talonflame, no Charizard. Megamence is the only real new threat since then.

Practically you'd run much more bulk, since you need nowhere near max SpA to OHKO Salamence, or even Manectric when you've been intimidated.

That's always been standard singles. Just learn to adapt to the differences compared to 6v6 and you'll find that it's quite fun, and the faster pace fits cartridge battles much better

It's bring 6 pick 3. Usually it's mostly for time purposes but it also feigns strategy by making you choose what dead weight to take off your team against your opponent and allows you to bring pure counters to specific teams, like abomasnow you wouldn't ever use outside VGC in a non-hail team.

It's like adding a side deck from Magic the Gathering or Yugioh. It can potentially be a neat concept.

Each turn on cartridge takes upwards of a minute compared to about twenty seconds on simulators. If you played 6vs6 you probably wouldn't even be done within the 60 minute battle time limit in most of your games.

I read these calcs and assumed you were overlooking something stupid like it being OHKO'd by Fire Blast, Earthquake etc., but that's actually pretty neat.
It's dead weight after the Hidden Power though, and if they get a chance to sub or dance you're still fucked.

I don't think people even run Adamant max attack.

And after hidden power it can still do some stupidly impressive damage depending on what's in the format

I actually did overlook something really stupid though.
Registeel gets clear body. It actually has a use. Intimidate doesn't work on Registeel. It can just use ice punch.

Then run a physical set from there with stuff like Earthquake for Megagross and Thunderpunch on Milotic.

Is there any reason why Weavile runs Life Orb over Choice Band in OU ? Generally if you don't have Fake Out you use it mostly as a revenge killer that smashes things with Knock Off. I see a drawback in this if Tyranitar switches in and you can't use Low Kick, but it has really scarce usage right now in the meta. Thoughts ?
