The rest was really just the same bullshit from the originals altogether it didn't amount to much extra gameplay.
And you say "tons of love" but if that were the case they would have fixed the real problems instead of fluffing it up.
ORAS on the other hand decreased and increased trainer levels while adding a few more trainers to make smooth level scaling and added useful features for the player such as the dex nav and so on. Then there was a large amount of content added despite what people want to say and the improvement of secret bases which even incorporated some aspects of Join Avenue along with the stunning amount of lore it added to the series.
It's pretty amazing that they put that much into ORAS in one year when you think about it but with HG/SS they pretty much wanted to pander to people's nostalgia giving you very little "new" features. That doesn't sound like "tons of love" to me at all.
