Contests are less fun than in the original (and they aren't online), graphics are Minecraft-tier at times (but gorgeous at other times), minor nitpicking like still not being able to choose fancier backgrounds for online battles.
All in all I'm pretty content with it, though with just a bit of polish it could have been the uncontested best Pokémon game to date, and it's a shame that it fell short.

In all seriousness Battle Frontier alone disproves this assertion.
They delivered. In most ways.
What I did like was that they added a ton of unexpected content (DexNav, soaring, etc.).
Despite that, the game didn't feel groundbreaking, not even close to that. I wasn't unoriginal, but surely wasn't innovative.
I dunno how to put it.
I like it tho, and if you like it, is all that matters.

It definitely feels like it was made to shut up people asking for remakes. It doesn't add much gameplay wise aside from the new megas and some decent move tutor moves. Granted, the fact that they added "new pokemon" that makes them somewhat incompatible with previous games in the same generation is both a surprise and and a problem that I hope gets fixed and continues.

Those are my only two complaints.

Otherwise I like them a lot. I don't think they're shit. I think they're pretty great, especially compared to what they were before. They're pretty clearly a vast improvement over the original 3rd and 4th gen bases.

You expand on it.
ESPECIALLY in if the next game is a remake.

Dexnav was pretty huge and delta episode was a nice addition but that still wasn't enough.

People are saying the secret bases are a let down but I think Gamefreak did an amazing job with them. Of course they could have done more with them, but it's pretty amazing to me how you can just find random bases during your adventure by using the game's internet features. I feel like that added a lot to the game because it encouraged me to explore routes and find things I wouldn't have bothered looking for otherwise. It was one more thing to search for in the adventure and I really enjoyed that.

If they remove secret bases in the next game only to bring them back for Sinnoh remakes, I'm going to be very butthurt.

They complain because GF didn't use their Emerald teams, most of which were superior. Norman having no variety on his team and the 7th gym's leaders only having two pokemon is ass.

I am a customizationfag myself but lol, isn't that a bit too much? We've had a whole 5 generations of no customization, it's not really that big of an issue when I went on to ORAS.

We know that difficulty options were only introduced in bw2. What we're really bitching about is that they took away the actual difficulty.

If they have to make the games super easy to appeal to the ipad-gaming shit goblins that are modern children, putting in a difficulty level selection is a good compromise. It isn't that difficult to just go through and boost the computer's teams' stats and it would allow us to feel like we actually accomplished something.

Waifubait was the rest of the game where may chases you around and tells you repeatedly how special this adventure is to her. Then she challenges you at that pond where you first battled and it's the most obvious pokemon-battle-as-a-metaphor-for-sex since the time N made you ride that god damn ferris wheel.

I think the cape goes well with the rest of her design, since all good dragon trainers had a cape/cape equivalent.
I don't think it was necessary, nor do I think she would look bad without it. Infact, her design was so good, that I rarely notice the cape.

ORAS is an improvement over Ruby and Sapphire, but that's not saying much because RS aren't very good. The games are way too easy, and the opposite sex rival is almost as annoying as your rivals in XY. I was sick of being stopped constantly. The writing and characters are better than most Pokemon games but it could get too overdramatic for my liking. The Delta Episode was a huge letdown. Also, it felt like the villains somehow made less sense in ORAS than in RSE.

The originals, I mean. Emerald was a vast improvement, and even that was proven to be garbage once Diamond and Pearl came out.

Going purely as remakes to Ruby and Sapphire, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are fantastic.

Well Gamefreak couldn't just add it in. All those things would need to be reprogrammed. And we've got a lot more battles features to make up for it. The Food Court, Inverse Battle Room, that preview for the Battle Maison. All the new battles types in the Battle Maison. And to help get ready for the Battle Maison we've got breeding made doable, and dexnav to help out. And we do have rematches with pretty much every trainer except gym leaders, and Elite four rematches with megas. We don't have one big battle facility. But we've got plenty of new battles, and new battle modes to make up for it. It's not like this is just Ruby and Sapphire.

Zinnia could have shown to be right with a simple cutscene showing the meteor with a glow coloured like your version go through the wormhole and out pops the opposite colour meteor. Science tried but the legends were true so only the natural legend could stop it.

Would would they get you used to such and easy hatching route in Lumiose, only to fuck it up in the next game? Lumiose hatching makes it easier to not pay attention and actually multitask and do other shit - this is not the case for ORAS. Sure you can stick the dime to hold UP on the D-pad, but the second the 1st egg hatches, it fucks up the bike route and throws you off course. EVERY FUCKING TIME! I'd rather just ride the circular route, and hit fly on talonflame after. So much easier

Johto was fucking barren and bad. Even when nostalgia can't make me return to the base games. HGSS had to add in a LOT to make the remakes worth playing.

I mean, seriously, the original plot boiled down to:
Get pokemon, fight leader, stop teamrocket, become champion, kill red. That was it. There was nothing else, until the remake threw shit at you.

A LOT of people forget that dealing with the box legend in G/S was optional, and not related to anything. Johto was a lot of empty nothing, with no life outside of Ecruteak's spooky towers, and the bellsprout tower.

I love all the pokemon games, but, goddamn the original Johto was bad. HGSS saved it, but, fuck, you can't forget the original.

I wasn't into pokémon anymore by the time RSE came out, so this was my first foray into Hoenn.

I get told I have awful taste, but I honestly wasn't very impressed with ORAS in relationship to XY. I preferred the Kalos region's towns and landmarks, customisation, etc.

ORAS was fun for secret bases and pentagon legendaries but otherwise it didn't 'wow' me as much as the hype from the Hoennbabies led me to believe it would
