>>22281362I don't think the types really need to be so defining. They're just a way to describe the general traits and abilities of that type.
It would be silly to have undead rather than ghost for intance. Undead could be a physical reanimation which would be vulnerable to normal and fighting moves. Ghost is here used, not to describe pokemon formed by spirits but those that posses a type that gives them certain qualities (being intangible).
Fighting types abilities most similar counterpart our own fighting techniques.
Normal types use abilities that don't have any affinity to a particular type. (Colourless, if you will).
Species names are what describe the traits you seem to be focusing on.
Just as within reptiles you could have a flying lizard or a snapping turtle.
Within pokemon with Fighting type you could have the punching pokemon or the kicking pokemon. Similar umbrella characteristics but entirely different species.
Thats why I don't think niche types like "Jutsu" or types brought in just to explain a handful of pokemon are a good way to go.
