Out of 170 battle spot battles I've gotten about 30 crits in total. Never more than one in a battle. Almost always when they have a sliver of HP left. I've been critted at least once in almost every single battle with several battles having streaks of crits against me, with the highest being 6 which were from standard non-high crit moves, pokemon, or items.

So yeh, I agree with you OP. But I think with more substantial reason.

not really, 50% paralysis is pretty fair considering the opportunity cost, you can also play around status with clerics and shit

status has clerics, type immunities (grass can't be spored, steels toxic'd etc), abilities like natural cure, countermeasures like synchronize etc

crits have

lucky chant, which nobody uses, and anti-crit abilities which are total shit at top level play outside of m slowbro

that's it

Flinch, confusion and everything else is still luck. Paralysis is still luck too. You can get extremely lucky with it or you can get utterly fucked by it. Burn chance on scald is luck too.

Honestly I'd rather take extra damage and being able to make my move rather than being flat out unable to do anything for several turns in a row.
Get back when you flinch 3 times in a row.
