Bulky water aren't doing shit. The closest thing Greninja has to a counter is Porygon2 and Chansey. And even then, Porygon2 need to keep eviolite at all costs and Chansey can only Seismic toss it while it sets up spikes. You can revenge-kill it, absolutely but even if all is right in the world, the mother fucker could just smell that Choice Scarf for how boldly you bought the Pokemon in and just switch out.

There are 4 Greninja
>mixed set with Gunk Shot
>mixed set with low kick
>special set with HP fire
>physical set with PuP

And the best part is that they are all interchangeable.

You can't even CHECK all those sets, You can say Empoleon but low kick says otherwise. At least one variant of Greninja is going to fuck you sideways no matter what you do and the others may be manageable for your team, but manageable is just a funny way of saying "if he predicts this switch, I'm fucked"

As an actual good battler I'll say Greninja is not broken. It is a fast powerful sweeper on the special side and has some physical attack gimmicks. Its wide movepool means its best counters are dependent on the moveset it carries. There are multiple Pokémon in the OU metagame who can avoid the OHKO and take it out. That's why it is not a broken Pokémon, it is too frail. It is fucked over by any CS user as well.

Low kick doesn't do shit to Chansey, it can finish off a weakened Chansey or Porygon2, that's it, and Chansey can cripple it with Thunder Wave or outstall it with Toxic. Porygon2 can outlast it as well. Most don't even carry Low Kick.

This is somewhat true. Although Gren can pick apart a defensive core with mixed attacking STAB attacks, what really kills him most often is getting hit. I know that sounds obvious and stupid, but I mean Greninja cannot take a hit, especially when he loses 10% of his health each turn. If anything is left standing and able to retaliate Gren is in trouble.

On balanced offensive teams, Greninja is easily able to switch in and threaten a OHKO due to one of his SE moves on anything that's slower than him (which is most things). I don't think it needs banned, but it really is a pain in the ass.

What you say is true. But that's not the origin of the problem. Smogon has yet still to outgrow that mentality of "Every playstyle MUST be viable in the Meta to be balanced".

In the way the game is build, it's leaning heavily towards offense. Granted, a lot of moves were nerfed in their power, but that just don't stop the trend. This said, the trend also try to stop the HO bullshit that a lot of players enjoy in the regard of outright KO the opposing Pokémon in just a few turns.

The game is steady being builded in an offensive yet heavier and bulkier style. You need to prepare correctly or predict to land that decisive blow that can decide the match.

It's not uncommon. If you have gunk shot and low kick, you want those moves to be as powerful as possible. You can cover the special side with ice beam alone, since many physical walls are weak to ice. Gren learns plenty of other good physical moves, as well (u-turn, knock off, waterfall, water shuriken, shadow sneak, rock slide, acrobatics, etc.)

Switching greninja into a powerful fairy type is still a risky move ofc. Max speed is not its only viable DD set. You can either predict they'll switch in and attack or predict they won't switch and use whatever is in front of you as set-up bait to get two boosts (which is a lot things, Altaria is great.)

Iv'e recently been running sub to try and work around having to predict the straight out switch vs. staying in and revealing a SE coverage move or going for wisp/tox. Well, that's what it's supposed to be, anyway. In reality, everyone has their opinion preformed and doesn't change it during the duration of the test, and only plays in the suspect ladder to get reqs so they can vote.

I say greninja should be in OU because it has a low defenses destroys any shock such as a tolonflame with brave bird or gengar with giga drain etc. but starts to heatrean not always do because changing Heatran can make changes to pokemon that weaken easily.

Much as I think Greninja shouldn't be banned and that anti-Greninja posters are mostly dumbasses, this thing is really strong. Not only that, but we haven't even seen its full potential yet.

You ever think of running substitute on a Greninja? That pretty much eliminates the need to predict switches, plus protects you from revenge kills. And you can still get really good coverage with gunk shot / low kick / ice beam or gunk shot / hydro pump / ice beam. And I've already begun seeing Gren run water shuriken, which deals with any Talonflame that isn't jolly natured. You can also run shadow sneak to screw with mach punch users. Greninja's movepool is fucking enormous, uncomfortably so considering its ability.

I think he means people need to git gud and learn when to stay in, instead of always switching out of fear when faced with a bad matchup. Especially against something like Greninja, where if you catch him trying to hit an expected switch, you can easily knock the fucker out.

I also think this is what that one unintelligible post above was trying to say, but I'm not sure.

On the subject of greninja, lets look at his brokenness like an equation.
High speed+ high coverage+ high power=broken.
So what happens when high power is taken away or reduced? I propose a ban on protean and not greninja. Protean is a highly broken ability anyways and let's face it, another protean user(s) will come and we'll be right here again. Greninja sans protean is not as broken if at all.

In fact, let's ban Multiscale on Lugia and bring it down to OU. Psychic types are shit anyway. Ho-Oh too, all we have to do is ban Regenerator on Ho-Oh. Fucking 4x SR weakness, lel, I'd be shocked if it saw any use. While we're at it, let's ban broken moves too, that way we can use any pokemon we want. If Xerneas couldn't use Geomancy or Moonblast it'd totally be OU material.
