I alternated between having it on and off to stay around the same level as the other trainers. It's weird, I ended up under leveled vs Steven. My team was 48-51 range so it was a pretty tough battle.

I'm not autistic about it like /vp/ and irrationally hate it.

This is how I've always done it. I'm a competitive completionist, so this typically works out well for me. I'm still casual enough to enjoy the game and it's story, but I can also be efficient enough to get into competitive when I feel comfortable enough.

I turned it off as a test in the X version I got for free from the promo and the game was barely harder.

On because I was playing through ORAS with 6 Linoone. Ended E4 with 32 Rare Candy, 23 Sun Stones, 16 Moon Stones, and pretty much all the healing items I used.

had it on, until i defeated brawly where it started to become too easy, then after flannery i put it back on and kept it on since. When i play a new pokemon game for the first time i play it to have fun, so when i play through it again its off for good.

I left it on in XY and regretted it, it made everything awfully easy. I'm using it again on ORAS but because I'm using two teams instead of one now, we'll see how this goes.

On so I could try maximum number of bros. Ended up having a box I swapped through constantly instead of a core team, and found it fun that way. Now with AS, I am experimenting with some normally late game mon traded over as eggs and fossils, with the same plan of a rotating roster.

Same. I think new exp share is nice tool, which obviously get you team of few pokemon overleveled if you do not think ahead with it. Having possibility to train and test more pokemon more easily now than before is pretty awesome.

While we're on the subject can someone remind me, in XY and ORAS, does the Exp Share also distribute EVs across the team? Or is it just experience like (I think) it was in older games?

On, I'm a casual. Didn't stop to grind once. Never had trouble in-story with anything besides Aqua/Magma Leader at Chimney, and Glacia. And Steven's Metagross I guess.

I had an ingame team of 12 pokemon, usually 4 of them in the party at any given time.

thought that would even it out.

turns out, I was still overleveled with all of them <___<

next time no exp share.
unless Im fucking catching and evolving everything I come across.

I used it to get new additions to the team up to speed with everyone else. The unfortunate side effect of that was that the other members of the team ended up being 2strong. I also had to get a Wailmer up 15 levels to evolve (it was shiny) for the Regi quest which brought much more wreckage and anal devastation to anyone standing in my way.
