I agree. I was thinking about it earlier today actually. If it were limited to Acrobatics, Fly, Aerial Ace, and Peck (I think that's the rest), it would've been more of a gimmick mon.

If it didn't have Brave bird, people would just use Acrobatics. Only 10 less power, but you're less likely to kill yourself. Might not be as broken since you can't choice band it on an acrobatics set, but it would probably be at least BL. Actually, some people prefer acrobatics sets anyway since a few teams don't really have a way to deal with Talonflame if it doesn't wear itself out after a while.

Now, if Talonflame were missing Gale Wings and was stuck with Flame Body... Wow, it would be pretty crappy. Now you have to actually invest in speed, so you lose most of your bulk, so priority roosts are nearly meaningless. You can't tank hits while swords dancing anymore... Yeah, Gale wings makes this thing.

Dragonite. Without Multiscale he's outclassed by Salamence. Could probably still be BL, but he wouldn't have anywhere near the impact he has now.

Blaziken. Without Speed Boost he's outclassed by Infernape.

Scolipede. Without Speed Boost he's just a bug that can throw toxic spikes around.

Venomoth. Without Tinted Lens it's all dressed up with nowhere to go and can't kill phazers as easily.

Gothitelle. Without shadow tag it's a slower crappier Espeon without magic bounce. Speaking of which...

Espeon. Without Magic bounce it loses its niche and is just a glass cannon. Could still be RU, maybe, since it has a decent move pool though.

About 80% of the OU mons are good because their ability helps them somehow, it'd be easier to pick the ones that don't rely on their abilities like Gallade-M, Blissey and Garchomp

Nah, magic guard Clefable's still decent. It just fills a different niche. Give it a life orb for painless damge of leftovers for more bulk, Softboiled, and calm mind and you can boost to your heart's content. Shits on stall too since they can't kill it with toxic, burns, or leech seed. Kinda reminds me of what Reuniclus did back in Gen 5.

Yes, and Acrobatics works nearly as effectively as Brave Bird does.

If Talons didn't have Brave Bird it'd be only slightly worse. If it didn't have Gale Wings it'd be among the worst in the game.

Besides, without Brave Bird, you'd still have priority Tailwind and Roost, and you could use slightly less powerful Flying moves. Talonflame doesn't even rely on Brave Bird all that much in VGC, where it's still a top-tier Pokemon.
