Just finished the GSC arc for Pokemon Speical, and can someone explain to me what was the reason behind the whole conflict with this guy? Pryce just wanted to catch Celebi so he could go back in time and save a Lapras' parents from dying. To do that, all he needed was a Rainbow Wing and Silver Wing to help make the GS ball. So why did he go through all the trouble of kidnapping children using Ho-oh and manipulating Team Rocket? He's a strong enough trainer to catch Ho-oh and Lugia on his own, and he could've just broke into Kurt's house and stolen his blueprints on how to make a GS ball. He didn't need to do some ambush at the Pokemon League.

And by the end, why did the heroes try and stop him from just going back into the past to save a couple of Lapras? Gold, Silver, and Crystal even go through a time portal and fight with Pryce some more just to release Celebi and trapping him in time instead of just letting him save some lives and allow him to keep the Pokemon he caught.
