Gold and Silver were enhanced on GBC, and then Crystal was exclusive to GBC. There's a precedent for it happening either way, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a N3DS-exclusive Pokemon, since unlike the DSi, there are significant hardware power differences.

I'm already buying a N3DS XL for MH4U. Doesn't affect me at all.

Pokemon and Monster Hunter are some of the few remaining franchises worth playing.

No, it was DSi enhanced. Both Gen 5 games were. In fact, BW2 was 3DS enhanced, especially with Dream Radar.

Because Xenoblade is exclusive, instead of some shovelware puzzle game or something like was DSi exclusive, people are immediately jumping to the "Pokemon will be N3DS exclusive" conclusion. That being said, gamefreak is unlikely to ever make a pokemon game exclusive to that system. The amount of people who own / will own a N3DS is far less than the combined total of owners of all 3DS models, if Gamefreak put a pokemon game exclusively on N3DS, they would be sacrificing a huge number of sales for a boost in power that would really just lessen the framerate drops in battles (and its hard to sell a game and new system at once with the prospect of consistent 30FPS)

I was in the market for an N3DS.

Chances are Nintendo will be smart and make 3DS games that are N3DS enhance-able.

The only real purpose to making it N3DS only is if the next game takes on a graphical direction much like the Genius Sonority titles.

If anything that probably just confirms that Trainer Customization will be a thing but I'll humor this notion.

Maybe, JUST MAYBE Sugimori, Ohmura, Eo, Unno, Ariga and other artists decide to make Trainer designs based on a few Nintendo characters if you use an Amiibo.

Maybe you'll get a Trainer that looks similar to Mario but isn't Mario.

You get a Samus lookalike that isn't Samus (or a full 3D model of Cynthia in Samus' armor)

There could be a Donkey Kong-esque Darmanitan trainer.

Hell, maybe even Hitoshi Ariga draws the Mega Man inspired trainer.

Even if none of those, just the idea of trainer customization with those items wouldn't exactly be a bad idea either.

N3DS isnt a new console, its a variation of the current 3DS, it will get a few exclusive games because it has marginally more power, but if its anything like the DSi (which this is the 3DS equivalent of) most of them will probably be nothing anyone cares about (Xenoblade being an exception of course). Unless you want to claim the DSi was also a brand new console and not a variation on the DS.

You forgot the n3ds has a c-stick and like two more shoulder buttons, so games that need of these buttons may be enhanced (smash) or exclusive (xenoblade). It's not just the extra power.

You can't complain about the 3ds because it's not just an improved ds, it's literally a different console altogether. And nobody forces you to buy the latest version of each console (if you had a fat ds no one forced you to buy the ds lite or dsi).

Actually, that's exactly why people can complain about it. Nintendo is releasing a new version of their console, which is more powerful, and that's fine. The issue is that there will be exclusives for this new, more powerful version, and it's being released only 3 years after the original 3DS. That's some bullshit.

Who knows, they might even be able to manage 3D enabled environments and make use of the better performance to have a smoother 3D battling experience.

Plus, the N3DS has a better Wifi chip too, which might help speed a lot of internet related communications.

Expect Xenoblade to be the only exclusive of note, no one with half a brain is going to make N3DS exclusive titles, look at DSi exclusives, and you will get a good idea of what kinds of games you will miss out on.

I don't think anyone's jumping to conclusions, a lot of people are just saying "maybe", since the power gap between 3DS and N4DS is more comparable to the GB and GBC, which also was seen as just a revision/upgrade to lot people.

I could be wrong though, I never actually owned my own DSi. I just stared in confusion at the features B/W2 implemented that seemed catering to features that didn't exist to me.
At least those features were pretty unobtrusive for the most part.

My prediction for the N3DS will be exclusives of ports of Wii/Gamecube games and enhanced versions of 3DS games (better framerate shit like like that)

I doubt they would make a ton of exclusives for the N3DS since the 3DS installbase is big and still growing and I think it would backfire if they made the next Pokemon (or Mario/Zelda/etc) game a N3DS exclusives this early in the 3DS's lifespan

I could be wrong of course but that's my best case scenario with it.
Or they could already be completely jumping ship from the 3DS and you're fucked for future titles if you don't buy a N3DS

I'd get whatever Special Edition Bundle they have for it. Bonus if it looks sick and includes a copy of whatever game is released. Hopefully the price is like 10$ below the price of a 3DS and XL now since it comes halfway or some could argue towards the end of the 3DS life cycle.
