Do you nickname your Pokemon?

How do you come up with nicknames for them? I name them after people I like. My Scrafty is named Julia.

Yes.
In-game I nickname them after minerals or characters from movies/TV shows.
On showdown I just give them joke names.

I tend to use shitty puns. My Sceptile is named Forrest. My Golem's name is Baldr. After the Norse god, but a pun on "boulder."

I'm most proud of my Vaporeon, though. It's named Claude Rains. After the man who played the Invisible Man.

Depends. Sometimes the primarchs of 40k, gods/goddesses, JoJo, or whatever comes to mind.

My ice team is named after gods/goddesses, with the males being norse, and the females being various goddesses around the world relating to winter, cold, etc.

My poison team varies with poisonous animals, poisons, or named Nurgle demons if I cannot think of something.

As for a special mention, I do like to to believe I'm being clever by naming Gyarados "Hobbs."

At this point I just name them whatever comes to mind. If it's a theme than so be it, but most of the time it's really silly sounding stuff.

I tend to think of something related to what the Pokemon is, then come up with some sort of variation of that word's translation in Latin. I end up consulting Google Translate for most of these. Other times, I find myself coming up with what I consider great names on the spot and will use those instead.

I always name my starter the dumbest name I can think of at the moment (for example a Chespin named Broblerone, or an Oshawott named Mr. Meaty), but other than that there isn't much of a pattern to my nicknames, other than that I'd never use a mon in-game without nicknaming it.

I pretty much nicknamed nothing except for a few Pokémon I really liked... But since I'm playing through AS completely different from how I usually do, I decided to nickname everything.

I just name the Pokémon something that references some aspect of it. So, I get silly things like a Geodude named "Leg Day", or a Ralts named "Internet".

Since I am catching everything as I go along and training everything I catch, it becomes quite a creative strain after a while.

Usually some kind of pun or reference. My Altaria is named Peng (after the cloud-dragon), Empoleon is named Boreale (STEEL REHN), Garchomp is named Megalogon (Megalodon after the shark and "gon" from "dragon" - basically what garchomp should have been named) and so on.

Teams take their names from characters in a vidya I felt like theming them on at the time. The team I used to get through ORAS was named with Earthbound side characters.

I try to have a consistent theme among my main party. Originally it was pun names not unlike the gym leaders e.g. Lief, but more recently I've been using less of those cause it gets to be hard thinking of names for your 89th water type Pokémon. Notably I used Norse mythical figures in B2W2, French historical figures in XY and Marvel/DC characters in ORAS.

I don't usually name boring old shit that I catch but if I'm doing a Nuzlocke or if I know the pokemon is going to see use long-term then (i.e. ubermensche breeding results) then I will be sure to nickname them.

The nicknames I use used to be shit like puns, and in my euphoric days they were named after mythological or political figures, thank God i outgrew that. Now I always name them stuff that one would name an actual pet, like Nesbit the Raticate or Mala the Liepard. HM/field move/field ability users are always Toby or Jemimah
