Didn't see one in the catalog, so let's have a thread for Rom Hacks and PC fan games. What are you playing?

Pokemon Island is basically a follow-up to Pokemon Snap where the island that Todd visiting ended up becoming a popular resort for trainers years later.

The best way to describe PI's gameflow is that it's Postgame: The Game. Instead of fighting Gym Leaders + Evil Team and E4, you catch Pokemon at many different areas of the Island so you can use them to challenge the Single and Double Colosseums and raise your trainer rank. As you raise your rank, more island areas and special facilities (among other things, like rivals and key items that replace HMs) in the main city become available for use.

You're able to choose from on of twelve different player characters at beginning and right after you do so, you're prompted to choose your first Pokemon from Johto, Sinnoh, and Unova's starter pools. Pokemon from the first five gens are available in the game

There are also a lot of interface and BGM customization features available. you can change the look of menus, the pokedex, and the battle ui. You can also choose what music plays during wild battles, biking and surfing (your choices mainly consist of stuff from most of the main games plus songs from a few other monster catching series like Digimon and DQ Monsters)

I'm working on a fangame myself. My game will be mildly open world with a focus on completing missions. I've just started so there isn't really anything to show, but trust me. It's gonna be awesome.

One of these days I'll get my hands on RPGmaker and make an open-world Pokemon game.

I want to make it like Morrowind, with different factions to join and do jobs for, then rank up and get benefits like a home, better prices, access to new areas, stuff like that.

The main problem I can think of is level curve, unless there's some way to modify trainers based on number of badges I can't thin klof a way out of this. That and if that were the solution then the best options would be to do everything without getting badges like in Oblivion with not levelling, which is fucking stupid.

What about just removing the level system? There would be no other progression than what you just describe and the discovery and capture of new mons. That looks enough to me.

how was it hard? I played it a few months ago, if I remember correctly the levels were merely raised a little and the trainers had more Pokemon, nothing more.
