Well, the hardest part in pokemon has always been the first gym, and Yellow Brock has to be the hardest gym, unless you decide to go in the direction of the pokemon league instead of pewter city, catch a nidoran or mankey, and level it to Brock level somehow.
So in a way master b8er OP is right

RBY are hands down the easiest Pokemon games out there. The enemy AI is beyond retarded and these are the only games where you can complete the game with literally anything you want. Every shitmon is 100% viable because of the AI's stupidity and bad movesets.

I challenge you to try Parasect in RBY and HGSS. I used one in RBY and it was perfectly viable, occasionally even being really good. In HGSS, it was dead weight from the second I caught it. I fed all my Rare Candies to it to keep it at a higher level than the rest of my team and it was still shit kept pulling weight even in regular trainer battles. The difference between RBY and practically any later game is like night and day. Ledian will get you nowhere in any game it's in, but Farfetch'd is perfectly usable in RBY.
