Step 1: Get an Everstone. If you give a Pokémon an Everstone to hold before putting it in the daycare, it will pass down its nature to any of its children.
In ORAS you can get a lot of Everstones by having friends in your secret base search for stones.

Step 2: Get a Destiny Knot. Normally, a Pokémon inherits only two random IVs from its parents. Giving one of the parents a Destiny Knot to hold ensures that the offspring inherits five IVs instead (randomly from either parent, but in different stats).
In ORAS you can get Destiny Knots at random from rebattling the young couple in Sea Mauville, or from your fans after winning a Master Rank contest.

Of note: while you can do any of this in X/Y as well, breeding in ORAS is preferred since you don't have to fly to the IV checker if you use the daycare on the Battle Resort.

A newborn Pokémon is of the same species as its mother (or of the father if you pair it with a Ditto).

Hidden Abilities can only be inherited from the mother, and in general the mother has a higher chance of passing down her ability, so keep that in mind.

Step 3: Get some parents. For two Pokémon to be able to breed, one needs to be male and the other female (though either can be replaced by a Ditto), and they need to be in the same egg group. Refer to Veekun, Serebii, Bulba or whatever to find out which Pokémon belong into which egg group.

Find a female Pokémon of the species you want to breed, and make sure it's got the right ability. If you catch it in the Friend Safari in X/Y, or sue the DexNav in ORAS to find one with three stars, you're off to a good start because those are guaranteed a few perfect IVs.

Now get a suitable father. Ask for other people's breeding rejects or again use the Friend Safari/DexNav to get one with good IVs; make sure that the father's perfect IVs are in different stats than the mother's.

Make sure that between the father and the mother, at least one of them has the right nature, so you can give it an Everstone.

If you want your Pokémon to hatch with egg moves, find a male Pokémon of a species which learns that egg move and which is compatible with the one you want to breed. The resulting offspring will hatch knowing that egg move.

Once you've hatched a couple, bring them to the IV rater guy in the Battle Resort Pokémon Center.

The longer you've been breeding, the easier it becomes, because you can use any old 5IV or 6IV males of yours to kickstart other breeding projects if they're in the same egg group as your new target.

Here on /wfg/ a lot of people give away breeding leftovers with egg moves, 4–5 perfect IVs and useful natures, so you can make use of that as well.

For breeding purpose, what I usually do now is breeding the future father without caring for the nature or pokeball, allowing me a wider range of males and females.
Once you get the IVs you want on a male, you just have to start with a female with the right nature and pokeball holding an everstone while you give the knot to the father you bred.

In the fifth gen RNG you need to have a perfect parent to pass down 3 Ivs and manipulate the others using the method.

I never used the RNG in fifth gen, but I remember the method anyways.

It's not completely accurate, sometimes the egg requires less steps to be generated.

For example, I retire an egg from the guy on X/Y, I enter the building to also take one of the parents, but the lady says that his husband wants to talk to me (aka another egg was generated in like 10 steps)

any female will pass the ball unless its cherish or master, irregardless of ability.
Snivy in pokeball is the only legitimate combination, unless contrary snivy comes in something else, and is female.

Is this true that you can't use Power Items with Destiny Knot? I tend to often use both to be able to pass 5IVs while being sure that a 0IV in speed was passed down and it seemed to work.
You just never pass down 6IVs.

Have never tried it since there's no reason to do it. You'd have to deal with both the IV AND Nature RNG I suppose. You're better just breeding for that pentamon with the desired ability.

Yes, you can use both, but as you said it will only ever pass down 5IVs, one of them being the stat corresponding to the power item. This only hurts you in the long run though, because you're still only getting one purely randomly generated IV like you would breeding with the destiny knot alone, but without the everstone you're also gambling on the random generation of one of 25 possible natures. So you're up to 25 times less likely to get a perfect mon that way.

I usually breed the male first without caring for ball/nature/ability, I can get the 5IVs I want faster that way, and it's the only thing that matters since the mother will carry everything else.

Using both items also increases the chance to get the right random IV from 1/6 to 1/5.

But yeah, that's just how I do it, never really tried to see if it really hurt me in the long run.
I've been pretty lucky with my different breeding projects.

Have 9 leftover Sigilyph from my breeding project. All Modest, all have Stored Power and Psycho Shift egg moves. All Level 1 and in standard PokeBall's.

Each has 4-5 perf IV's.

Okay, my math is wrong because I can't into probability, and that wasn't actually considering any 5IV spread, just the chances of a specific one. I'm not really familiar with binomial distributions, but referencing wolfram alpha and wikipedia I'm calculating that the chances would be more like 1 in ~352. Still pretty time consuming if you actually try for it and you aren't particularly lucky.
A 4IV Ditto given a 3 star dex nav encounter would actually be about a 1 in 11 chance

Hi, I'm about to start a mystery egg run of OR so could do with 6 random eggs off of someone. I'm allowing myself to catch HM slaves if I need to progress further into the game (as long as I don't use them in battle) so that isn't something that needs to be considered when picking Pokemon to breed but I would prefer no starters.
