Better question: Why do they insist on giving players unstoppable killing machines so early on (mega blaziken, latios), effectively eliminating any challenge the game might offer lest you decide to abandon said killing machine?

You don't even have to catch latios and torchic was available for so long pretty much everybody got one.

Nobody's forcing you to use the legendaries/megas. So if a little kid wants to use it, he can go ahead, but you don't have to if you think it ruins the challenge. Hell, they even let you use the Latios/Latias soaring feature without even having them in your party - actually using them is entirely optional. All things considered, this is a pretty minor thing to complain about.

Black was the hardest out of those 3 games. I remember nothing challenging about Platinum outside of the Cynthia fight but she's harder in Black and Black 2

You know, I completely disagree with his point completely but I can understand.

At the end of the day, the majority of their fan base are kids. Sure there are older gamers like the ones on here but in reality we're a tiny speck compared to the standard Pokémon fan.

Most older gamers play more for competitions and competitiveness than the actual game itself. To compensate GF have made breeding easier to keep people who want to breed competitive 'mons happy and are making the games easy as shit to keep kids entertained.

As I said I don't agree but I don't see things changing any time soon. Face facts, we're the vocal minority and Nintendo don't give a shit about it.

Nobody is making you use them. You can use the exp share, have the switch battle style and carry a billion potions as well.
You guys complain these games are easy, and while they are by no means hard they can be made a little more challenging fairly simply.
Just stop using healing items all the time, stop using uber pokemon and turn off all the casual mechanics.

This. I went ahead and turned off experience share, changed the battle style to set, and decided I could only buy heal items from Vending Machines or use Berries to heal outside of Pokemon Centers. I only buy repels for DexNav'ing and Pokeballs from Marts.

It's made the game a little bit more challenging. I just got into Fortree a bit ago, and things are getting back to being easier now.

The whole point of a game is to have a sense of your actions steering you away from failure. With EXP share and how piss easy the gym leaders, or well EVERYTHING is, there's absolutely no reason to let your critters get up to "1hko everything with any attack" levels.

Pokemon originally had such a draw for exploration. While it was always a linear game, there was a sense of wanting to know more about the next place, learn more about the world and each town. When you could actually go down different paths and take on at least some of the different gyms at a your choosing was the best thing about Red/Blue.

The next Pokemon game should be more open. Players resent being forced to explore. Give them a reason to want to instead. Stop handing out legendaries and telling the player how special they are. Let the player feel special by exploring some new cave in buttfuck nowhere and feeling special on their own.

Granite Cave is the one on Dewford right? there's still stuff to explore, just now you need a mach bike to get to the lower level first, I was more disappointed that there's no game corner anymore, not even something lame like voltorb flip, just a closed down arcade in Mallville. Same. I rarely use items and have EXP share off. And I sure as hell don't agree to getting teleported. It's still not hard, but I'm an adult and I've played RSE plenty of times before so I wasn't expecting it to be. Plus I couldn't help myself and kept shiny Metagross on the team because it's a bro, so if I wanted it harder I'd box it. Just don't take the easy options when they're presented, I don't get why people act like it's forced on you.

When you think about it, why would a kid purchase a dedicated gaming console? Why would they spend $40-50 on one game? It's clearly with the intention of devoting more than five minutes of time to the game. If you pick up a 3DS, surely most gamers will spend twenty minutes on a game. And many will expect to play a game with challenges and difficulty.

Smartphone games have their niche as pick-up-and-play five minute time wasters. I don't see why Nintendo/Gamefreak want to compete with that market when they always focused on a different side of the market.
