A better question is are you prepared for scarf sylveon? Like most people my answer for sylveon is bisharp which outspeeds and OHKOs it. I'm pretty sure even timid sylvy OHKOs it with hyper voice before it gets to move. After seeing it in Cybertron's vid today I'm sure we'll see it being used, its just a good idea in general. On not using a mega: funny enough I'm doing very well with no mega right now but for most players you're gonna want the offense a mega like kangaskhan/charizard offer

Focus Miss is the only move that comes to mind that could replace Earth Power to hit bothersome Steel types and for that it's also better to teach it either Flamethrower or Heat Wave, at least that's what I think. Last thread someone posted a good EV spread too to survive Garchomp, would that still work?

Honestly, I am legitimately mad. I am trying to climb showdown's VGC ladder for the past week and I can't get anywhere. I get fucking out-predicted and outplayed. Every fucking time I try to "predict the predict" I get fucking butt-blasted, but every time they do the same shit to me, I get butt-blasted. Every time I fucking the pokemon that will counter their team, they fucking counter-pick me as if I were a predictable little bitch.

Fuck this game. Fuck this format. Fuck every crit that sent me down 1000s plebs. I'm done with this shit... for the rest of the night. I'm frustrated.

Do any of you scrubs have a more efficient spread for charizard y? This one tanks +1 life orb sucker punch from bisharp, 100hp/196 defense for a total of 396 defensive EVs.

EVing to take a Life Orb Bisharp is a little weird since Focus Sash variants are way more common than Life Orb variants. I suggest you just do a standard Timid spread.

Or you could go for a Bulky Modest build that tanks a Rock Slide from garchomp if you really do want to be a little physically bulky.

I remember back in VGC 2014 there were spreads to survive garchomp rock slides and Kangaskhan Returns, but since Garchomp has been replaced by Lando-T and Kangaskhans now run Adamant with Double-Edge, those defensive spreads seem archaic.
If I were you, I'd probably run Modest Zard Y that could maybe survive Band Brave Birds and Dracos. I'm not sure though, I don't feel like making spreads so late at night.

Well I'm using Mega-Lopunny with Fake Out and Encore, tying to use it as an offensive disruptor of sorts, just don't know what mons to pair it with to take advantage of it.

In theory, many will protect turn 1 when lopunny is on the field since fake out is a thing, I could encore their protect, shutting them down, and dish out some respectable damage with Low Kick or Frustration.

Well to take Garchomp rock slides you need pretty significant investment. Considering Landorus-T has base 145 Attack, i'm pretty sure you won't be able to EV to survive it, or you will need so much investment that it isn't worth it. Thats what i meant.

factoring in rock slide's miss chance and also the chance for a crit I think that's roughly 27 percent chance of getting OHKOd by it. not bad if you have no other option

It's invested this heavily and only has 4 SpA to spare, not even mentioning the fact that Zard is EV'd to live only a neutral natured Kang Return when it runs Adamant Double-Edge, and Garchomp isn't relavant.

my spread has 52 sp atk evs and modest nature, almost exactly the same as Jeudy's worlds char. and enough speed to creep smeargle. I just wanted to know if anyone had a more efficient spread for this specific thing, I know what I'm doing but I value your input all the same

There isn't really much to EV with M-Sceptile and Sharpedo, Sceptile pretty much needs max speed, Sharpedo is just a case of not being that good in VGC. They're both perfectly usable (maybe not so much Sharpedo), it might just be the team that you had or just misplays on your end.

I had more success with Sharpedo than with Sceptile to be honest. The latter just cannot keep up in Hyper Voice - The Meta. Sharpy on the other hand has a nifty Sucker Punch resistance, good pre-mega ability, and can take on Megamence or Sylveon depending on your coverage move of choice (I ran Ice Beam). It also fares marginally better against Trick Room, since Crunch 2HKOs Cress and she cannot do much back.

Well, I guess I'll try to tweak the teams a little more, but yesterday's testing left me with a really bad aftertaste.

Here is a tip since it's 5am and I don't really feel like making a spread. When calcing against kanghaskan treat your pokemon as if it has 125% hp since kanga is a 2hit and sitrus heals 25%

Posting replay of my current MegaLopunny team w/Suicune. Encore+HJK that hits everything is so fun to use. I only have MegaKhan in the back because there are situations where it's balk is needed.

Bold Nature

- Ice Beam
- Snarl
248HP and 52 Def means that Fake Out+Double Edge from Kangaskhan should knock me into sitrus range all the time(Key word on should, I might've fucked up)
28 Speed means under Tailwind I outspeed MegaSceptile, and that much SpA OHKOs Salamence I think. Dumped the rest in SpDef.

Maybe salamence or charizard could hit hard enough to OHKO some TR setters? Probably not but they could soften it up quite a bit. bisharp is a better anti-TR mon since it hits many common TR setters for heavy damage with knock off.

Hitmontop hits like a pansy without Gem. It losing Sucker hurt him too.

Hariyama can hit like a car and hit like a truck if he gets burnt. Has Knock Off and punches.

I'd like to say they have similar bulk because the HUEG HP offsets the lower defenses but I've truly not ran any calcs.

Last but not least he can also run the same support as Hitmontop with Feint, Wide Guard and Helping Hand.

Here's my method, if it helps:
1) Get a pokemon with final gambit, and make sure it has 1HP less than the target mon does with 31 IVs. So a 31 IV suicune has 175 HP - you need a final gambit mon with 174. (If you have one that has much higher HP, just get it hurt in battles to bring it down to 174, that works too) You obviously want its speed to be higher than the target's. A scarf can help with this.
2) Get a pokemon with the status move of your choice (for sleep/para) with 1 speed less than the target mon has with 31 IVs. So for suicune (105 speed), I used a lanturn with 104 speed and twave.
3) Get another mon that can take a ton of hits and give it leftovers or something. Aegislash works for a lot of pokemon (helped me a lot with terrakion), any bulky water or something that resists ice works for suicune (when you catch it, it doesn't have any water moves)
4) Lastly get a pokemon with synchronise and faint it and put it at the front of the party. I'm assuming you already have this.

Make your party like this:
1 - synchroniser
2 - final gambit-er
3 - status-er
4 - bulky mon
5 - bulky mon
6 - empty slot

Then encounter the mon, final gambit it, and SR if you KO it. (That means its HP isn't perfect) Next, send out your status mon and use the status. If the target does not go first, immediately SR, as that means its speed isn't perfect. If the target was faster, catch it as normal and check the stats.

I used my method because I have balltism and also because it's very easy to do while not paying attention, if you move all of the moves to the top slot since then you just have to mash A. If you catch and check every single one, that takes more attention, I feel.

I'd say no, if only because azumarill doesn't have tons of free moveslots. Non-belly drum sets really like both aqua jet and waterfall (and of course play rough) with the last slot usually being superpower or knock off or something.

I beat E4 with Hariyama back in Emerald and now in Omega Ruby and I was determined to make it work in VGC15.

Oddly enough, I used Hariyama with Gothitelle before I knew about Zheng and now that I saw him use it, I feel like I am really copying him.

Still, it's a nice Fake Out user and it's definitely better than Hitmontop right now. It's definitely got a niche as a Kangaskhan and Bisharp killer with Gothitelle. Creates nice mindgames with the opponent.

1. I ran various damage calculations and even without Sp.Def investment, Milotic can easily switch on Special MegaMence. Physical bulk seems more important considering how rampant physical attackers are. I'll keep checking anyway. Sitrus Berry is actually a good idea, I've been thinking also in Assault Vest.

Another note is the mindset that if it worked in VGC13 it could work in this metagame. You didn't say nothing specifically but I think it would be best if everyone here would understand that. VGC15 is a completely different metagame, not only do you have a lost of gems, you have a generation shift, a new type, nerfed moves(specifically hidden power), Megas, new abilities, and different mechanics(twave/powder). If players fall into the mindset of it worked in 2013 it would be bad for you moving on. The way I see 2015 is that it's a faster 2013 metagame where both offensive and defensive playstyles can prevail.

Just as a huge fan of LO chomp (I used it all 2014) I think about how many potential KOs I could miss after spread reduction or after intimidate or burn with that loss in power. I-I was one of the anons. Garchomp is a really interesting pokemon, it's bulky, fast and hits hard, so it can run a huge variety of sets if the situation calls for it. I can accept bisharp could and maybe should run 252/252 but the same isn't true for our sand shark.

The only reason I found in using Timid could be just for punish Landorus-T with HP Ice, but Bold makes more sense for muh bulk, but Zapdos it's more bulky, so... what should I use /vp/?

You can take 8 EVs out of Speed and put them into defense to always survive Adamant MegaMence's +1 Double-Edge, and 252+ TTar's Rock Slide plus a turn of sandstorm damage, but then you speed tie neutral 120s like MegaMence anyways.

Can't take item-boosted Draco Meteors, but it'll survive 244+ MegaZard Y's Heat Wave and OHKO in return with Tbolt (though likely sac itself in the process).

You have 552 EVs there.

What I came to was 188 speed to outspeed garchomp, 204 spatk to ohko 12 hp / 36 spdef garchomp (and everything else 4x weak to ice), and the rest (116) into defense. It's not like I have a huge problem with garchomp, but I didn't see anything notable to outspeed from base 102-111, and I can't thunder wave garchomp to outspeed it. But I didn't consider higher base speeds with neutral natures. I don't think being able to outspeed adamant mega mence is that valuable though because I can just thunder wave them.

I'd considered just Twaving neutral 120s, but you catch out Sceptile on the turn it Mega Evolves, and you don't risk taking damage from MegaMence this way, either.

Greninja is primarily a physical attacker which is also running ice beam. Aerodactyl is pretty much support.

I will try these out. I kinda need something that handily deals with M-khan.

I know it has low Satk. I'm more interested in the speed drops for Icy Wind then the power.

It's the same shit as pairing an earthquake user with a discharge user and spamming high power attacks. Fast modes like that works against unexperienced players but good players will brush it off, he might just be carrying Wide Guard or a combination of Pokemon that can quickly beat your combo.

oh, then it's because sceptile is frail as fuck and a lot of things easily deal with it.
with two pokemon, double attacking makes things that seem like they may be broken to a singles player go down extremely fast

Can't decide between Zapdos, Thundurus and Raikou.. Zapdos vs Thundurus basically means Heat Wave / Tailwind vs Prankster T-Wave, but running a Zapdos would mean I am almost forced to run a Life Orb which is already used by a different team member (plus the Zapdos I reset runs HP Flying), so I would rather stick to Thundurus.. Then again I had to decide on which set I use and I have no experience on Thundurus yet so I don't know what set is the best (bulky support or sweeper or dunno). Then again there is Raikou with a nice speed and Snarl which might be interesting plus the ability to outspeed and shut down (Mega)Mence or even set up screens.. I really don't know what I should go for.. Which of those seems the most viable for VGC15?

That's why I love the backup function though I haven't been using it for getting multiple legendaries yet
For anything outside of real VGC Nationals etc. I'd stick to that Heatran, if you want to visit any VGC tournament, try to get a flawless one somehow

If your heatran isn't perfect you could try what I've been doing. Get one perfect legendary, get someone to clone it for you and give you a bunch of copies, then trade around for everything you needed.

I'm the anon with the perfect cress and terrakion and I've already got a perfect HP ice zapdos, landorus, and virizion for them.
