Yeah, I stopped at skarmory dust grass because shit got boring and knew none of the upcoming pokes would get me excited. Decided to start a new X run and realized that Kalos has the best pre national dex.

As far as I can tell they've fixed those problems and because of it Hoenn has moved up to my second favourite tied with Sinnoh.

As for the features, it would be fair to say that it's added the most and removed the least of the remakes so far

I have 40+ hours played in Alpha Sapphire since it came out and I just got Omega Ruby and have put probably about ten hours into it, I only have three badges.

HG/SS just added an extra layer of tedium and fluff to the game rather than actually useful features, just take a look at the pokeathelong and Safari Zone sure you could bypass it by changing the date but that just proves it was a bad feature. Then you couldn't actually get Magnezone, Probopass and the gen 4 Eeveelutions.

HG/SS is a prime example of how not to remake a bad game.

The Ruby and Sapphire generation had a lot of fascinating ideas and perks but they left out some of the most solid foundations already settled in the previous gen. A lot of things you saw in the previous generations that were revolutionary for the franchise were not included (Day and night, moving sprites, more than 1 region and 8 badges, etc.) It had the lowest sales of the series and was not that well received by a lot of fans coming from the Gameboy handheld.

I can't honestly claim shit taste for those who liked it though. To some it's their first Pokemon game. And you just gotta dig it.

When the Pearl and Diamond remakes come out this place will flood...

DP is worse. Day/Night came back, but the battle animations and slowness was gash, and the Pokedex was reduced to a measly 150 again. Not to mention Sinnoh was bland as fuck compared to Hoenn. And the BF was removed.

It really wasn't that bland. It's locations and towns actually fit together and kinda harmonize and so does Hoenn's. I could only say it's bland because of how awfully light the grass was and how nothing about Sinnoh's towns really stood out. It looked a bit unnatural. Sinnoh's caves and snow really made Sinnoh feel big and I can only hope they introduce a huge-cave system in Gen 7 like Sinnoh's.

Not that anon, but I agree with them. ORAS were just disappointing, because RSE were shit and they didn't do anything to make it better. They didn't even bother to put in good stuff from Emerald.

After playing ORAS, I went back to X and was much more satisfied.

Collecting 1000 flags for Garchompnite is not worth it when I can transfer one from XY.
I don't have any motivation to play ORAS anymore

Roller skates are a big negative, but XY's cities and locations are still a lot better than ORAS. I wonder if they'll expand on the one-room caves like they did for Scorched Slab.
It's sad there wasn't a sort of Regi puzzle in Kalos, or a non-box trio in general.

How to explain it...

I've been part of Pokemon since the beginning. I'm 24 and I've, for the most part have bought every single Pokemon game. Each game to an extent felt like I was re-living or a retelling or an observer to someone elses adventure.

With XY not only was I able to customize my characters cosmetic appearances I was always able to choose my race/skin tone. While I played it, it was more "this is my adventure" and with it came a whole new set of emotions and experiences with interactions and dialogue in the game.

It's not something I was ever going to expect from a Pokemon game made in Japan.

I tried to make my character in my image of how I would want to look in the pokemon world. And it took the franchise to a whole new level with me.

I really hope they keep it going after kalos.

If they had time and didn't rush it they could have made it so your first playthrough, you were playing as the character from the originals, then on your New Game + you played as a new kid, who you could customize like in XY and your Rival AND OR Champion was the previous character from the Oringals you played as in your first go around.

When you caught up with them and fought them, they were an older version like Cythias age; a nice thing to see a "what if" on how they could look like when they got older. Also the previous pokemon you used would be what you had to fight against; giving incentive to create a really hard team to beat with IV training ect.

Most of Kalos is an unnatural clusterfuck and the entire region is a big, messed up collage. Gamefreak wanted to show us what they could do with 3D, but the region was JUST that. A hollow 3D region. Take the Pokemon Village for example; it's very near a city with a snowstorm, and yet it has kawaii flowers. It was well-done, yeah, but just because of the 3D.
I honestly can't recall a single comfy place in Kalos.

You have your adventure with your Pokemon. That's why every time you play it, it's a different adventure. Player customization is just an extra to the "already-yours" adventure feeling that only Pokemon gives as an RPG, due to the huge choice of Pokemon and their own customizations.

R/S/E have been my favorites sent they released, OR/AS are a dream come true for me and they improved everything for the most part. The only things they really fucked up with were not bringing back the BF and also using the R/S gym leader teams instead of the Emerald ones. But those are pretty minor complaints for me.

You are indifferent to customization we get it. Character customization was a GREAT feature no matter how much you would claim "Nah, didn't matter." What is actually baffling is the fact that you try justifying removing a feature that was well reciprocated by the factor that a minority (including you) felt, 'indifferent'. I'll tell you, and it's not about Flygons or Battle Fagtier

It's because it just isn't fucking good.
It was a remake of a game that wasn't that good, it did the same things that the originals did that wasn't that good.

It removed a lot of features and gave you perks. It provided you with half dimwitted characters like Courtney that lacked a proper dialogue. The Delta Edgisode, the single handedly most gayest thing ever! Zinnia? ZINNIA?! ANOTHER DRAGON MASTER, OH SHIT WATCH OUT FOR THIS REDUNDANT SHIT! It tried too hard to tell you this shocking and amazing tale of ancient legends and they just fucking suck at story telling!

I'm fucking tired of hearing shit about Hoenn having the best <this> or the best <that>! No it fucking didn't! It was plain crap in a cartridge so just accept it!
