It's not that they're lazy, it's that they're incompetent.

Less so than back then though, hell GSC probably would have been absolute horseshit rather than just plain shit if Iwata(?) didn't step in and fix their shit.

Iwata made compression tools for them. This is part of the reason why Gold and Silver weren't released in March 1998 but in November 1999. The other part is that they were asked to localize Red and Green for overseas markets.

Guaranteed replies. Hoennshitters for some reason think RS revived the series when in actuality nearly killed it and will nitpick anything but the moment you say anything about water or worst designed generation of Pokemon, the defense force will swoop in out of nowhere, because apparently a level curve is worse than half the game being water with only 2 pokemon you encounter the whole time.

There is a problem with it when there's no change in difficulty and it was shoved in with no thought in a desperate attempt to add more hours to the game, which they failed at because it was about 30 minutes long.

But hey, the Johto defense force will just jump in and use their nostalgia shield right?

Diamond and Pearl only had the problem of being slow, and while Platinum plus HeartGold and SoulSilver fixed it while keeping constant 30 FPS, Hearthome City in Sinnoh, Goldenrod City in Johto, and Vermilion City in Kanto now suffer from lag.

Ruby and Sapphire didn't have time cycles because they would suck with the graphical limitations of the original GBA. Backwards compatibility with Red and Green plus Gold and Silver was not possible due to the significant changes in both hardware and software.

And the overuse of HMs, locking you out of new pokemon until the postgame, the poor regional dex, lack of postgame and, in my opinion, going in the wrong direction for the story.

Ever so slightly in all honesty, generation 4 as a
whole felt slow.
HG/SS also didn't have a way to get the location based evos while adding pointless tedium to areas like the safari zone.

I know you're trying to say they weren't the best of games as well but don't leave anything out.

DS games (second set = BWB2W2) = 60 FPS in battles, 30 FPS in the overworld, 15 FPS for the OP

Mega evolutions are a great idea but their execution for most of them are terrible. They should have worked like M-Gyarados or M-Zard X.
