>>22332353>I will never understand this argument. The argument is simple: pokemon with enormous offensive presence become harder to handle if they can change their checks around by running different moves. You can't rely on, say, Tentacruel as a Greninja check, because a lot of them carry Extrasensory.
>I think its a great thing that a pokemon can have a diverse and viable movepoolOkay then, go use Thundurus-I, Mega Metagross or Latios. Hey look! That's the entirety of S-rank and each of them have multiple good sets, except:
>landorus and its stealth rocks u-turn two pony showLando-T has scarf and lead/SR sets, as well as double dance and explosion sets.
Not in S-rank, we have Mega Altaria who can fulfill basically every role (special wall, physical wall, physical attacker, special attacker, set-up sweeper, support.) Clefable has all-out attacker, support, and calm mind sets. Keldeo has Scarf, Specs and Calm Mind sets. Talonflame has SD, Bulk Up and CB sets. None of these are niche pokemon I'm bringing up, these are all OU staples who can run multiple sets. Actually, virtually every pokemon in OU has two or more sets, or at least one set that has one or two moveslots that can change around. Literally the only pokemon I can think of that has one good set with no move variance is Mega Manectric.
What sets all of these pokemon apart from Greninja, is that they don't have 122 base speed+Protean. That's literally what I said, Pokemon are not broken only because they have multiple sets, but if they have broken qualities then the move diversity becomes a reason why they're hard to handle.
