Whiscash ate a master ball in the anime. The master ball can catch anything from Mewtwo to Arceus, but Whiscash proceeded to give no fucks and chow down.

Whiscash is the strongest Pokemon in the universe.

balls could miss Mewtwo and Master ball could fail first gen

Plus under certain conditions, you can prevent capture by being part of a horde or something

The master ball can never be allowed to actually work in the anime. It completely fucks up the "Poke balls are just glorified doghouses! Pokemon can leave any time they want!" thing going on there.
