It's slow as balls though.

Next to nothing can switch into stuff like Crawdaunt, and it's barely keeping itself in BL. Slow nukes are generally pretty bad unless they have incredibly strong priority to back it up, which Emboar doesn't have.

Emboar being a slower Victini with better typing doesn't really mean shit when Victini is bad to begin with. Especially when its Speed tier is so bad that it's next to irrelivant.

Contrary Serp also fills a much more in-demand role: it's fast, does an incredible amount of 2-turn damage, and is very difficult to switch into while you dont know its Hidden Power type. It can also sweep, something Emboar is incapable of.

Emboar is some Mediocremon that's going to be trapped in UU at best even with Reckless. There's so much competition for it, including the generally better Infernape that it might not even get past BL2.

That slowness can be offset a bit thanks to Sucker Punch. If something lives through a Reckless Flare Blitz or Wild Charge, drop them in the next turn with whatever fraction of HP they have left.

Shit reading comprehension. The guy who used Typhosion and Greninja as examples was defending Samurott. The thing about the 2 examples he used was that they either threw away their motif or are completely different animals. Greninja completely throws away the whole bubble thing its previous evolutions had and that's why people shat on the design when it was first leaked. They only like it because of Protean. Typhlosion looks nothing like Cyndaquil aside from the color scheme and flaming backs.

Funnily enough Samurott actually keeps the whole shell weapon thing Oshawott and Dewott had.

now a cool concept for an item would be one that negates abilities when held. doesn't that sound fair? it could be tricked onto shitheads like Talonflame or given to Pokemon with limiting abilities like Slaking and Archeops. the thing keeping them from being OP is their lack of item slot similarly to most Megas.

Do you know what they say about what it means to assume? When Greninja leaked, most of us who liked what we saw didn't bother trying to compete with the haters. Outrage is much louder than satisfaction.
I appreciate the tongue scarf for softening the figurative edges of Greninja's design. The pink contrasts nicely with Greninja's white and dark blue color scheme, and the goofiness of using one's tongue as a scarf gives a much-needed dose of levity to a design that was dangerously close to taking itself too seriously. It's honestly my favorite design of the entire series.

Granted, I could just have shit taste. I also like Samurott, after all.

So it can spam Megahorn, Blizzard, Hydro Pump, Air Slash, Iron Tail(if you want to hit Azumarill neutrally), and Aqua Tail(its too slow to make use of Waterfall's flinch chance) for days. And no one runs Thunder outside of rain and the only Leaf Storm users you'll face fear of switching into it's coverage moves. While Pidgeot has to deal with eating perfect accurate Stone Edges and Icicle Crashes and Machamp with Zen Heabutts and Play Roughs. Sacred Sword would be nice though. They should really give it widespread distribution since its no longer exclusive to ledgendaries.

This is cool. Emboar is my one of my favourite Pokemon, but I've never bothered to fit him into one of my competitive teams.

Infernape is the shittiest looking Fire-starter, especially among Fire/Fighting ones.

I mean seriously compare its stats to all the other starters ever. It's weaker in every single area that matters, Feraligatr alone has higher stats in almost everything that matters except s.atk.

It packs a punch, to say the least. Pop a choice band on it, baton pass into it with +2/+3 speed and just flare Blitz and wild charge everything. It's power.

M-Sceptile isn't a dedicated special attacker though. It can viably go mixed.

Low Sweep is shit without Sheer Force. Guaranteed speed drop isn't worth the loss of power. Especially on a mon that's slow as balls.
