You move to your (at the start) empty appartment
There are 3 jobs available:
A landscaping/construction type job where you are given a fighting-grass pokemon (or grass-rock?)
A mechanic type job where you are given a steel-fire type (or fire electric?)
And a pest control type job where you are given a bug-water type (or water poison?)
It revolves around doing jobs for the particular company, getting better commissions and higher positions
The gyms are more a side thing, and are treated more like training as well as reputation so you can get better commissions
More commissions means more money means you can deck out your appartment and pay to get in more exclusive gyms (otherwise there is no limit as to which gym you start in)
Maybe instead of an evil team you have to deal with brown nosing salarymen vying for position and status, and fat corrupt plutocrat management
