Deoxys has a triangle on it's back.
It has three forms other than the original one (and it had three when FRLG were released)
The real-life island which served as inspiration for Birth Island has a triangular shape.

That, or its connected to the ultimate weapon. The weapon has three huge petals and not only created Rayquaza's delta transformation on its mega, but is also probably responsible for Deoxys too.

Isn't the idea behind Mega-Rayquaza badass though?

The wishes of people were able to create a pokemon strong enough to slay a god. I mean we never see it go up against Arceus, but I mean just by the stats, it's stronger.

I think it's pretty cool anyway. All the XY references in the Delta episode were a bit bleh though. Did AZ really have to go to Hoenn? Well wahtever.

GameFreak likes the number three a lot, followed by number two.

It's probably some Tao thing like they did with Palkia/Dialga/Giratina in that region. Their legends were heavily inspired by Taoism and the Three Pure Ones, with a Christian twist

I think it's actually a reference to the central deity of the Three Purities of Tao, who just spontaneously came into existence from nothing. It's said he observed everything when he came to being and created the first writing system by casting the patterns into gold and jade.

So it's like universe-making code system for Arceus.

Giratina is a pretty shitty Satan analogue. It never tries to lead others down the path of evil, for one, which is a pretty big part of what makes Satan Satan. Especially when several other mythological traditions have other malevolent deities that were forcibly separated from the rest of the gods.
Giratina is fiercely territorial, though, which is more in line with the violent reactions produced when matter and antimatter come in contact with each other.

Well, the thread seems appropriate for this sort of shit so I'll go on. The 3 Tao deities basically go like this:

>One is the supreme deity from which everything sprang, including the other two, also created the first writing system
>One divides, calculates and manages time
>One is responsible for treasures

GF evidently went with three equal gods (probably because of time/space/antimatter and the creation of universe theme the games had going on, Pokemon games generally have references to actual science along with myths) and we got a most supreme deity ruling above all creation. Arceus was I think inspired by a lot of things besides the Tao deity:

>Kannon the Shinto goddess with thousand arms and thousand eyes to watch the world
>Avalokitesvara, an avatar of god with thousand arms in Buddhism

Now you really can chuck a Masterball at the supreme god, but considering the inspirations from Buddhism and Taoism which are full of alternate existences and avatars, I think GF intended Arceus to be just an avatar of god. The actual Arceus probably doesn't even remember where it put Arceus.

Deoxys in both versions went for the biggest triangle he could find: in FRLG he saw Birth Island, and in ORAS he saw Sky Pillar. If sky pillar were a triangle in FRLG he would have gone there.
