I hated the original R/S, but I'm jonesing for some new pokemon
what do /vp/? is the remake better?

It's modernized, with all of the mechanics introduced since the originals. If you liked the more recent games like BW and XY, you'll probably enjoy this.

I'd say it's better. If it's about the Pokemon variety, you'll encounter the same until you beat Groudon/Kyogre, but gameplaywise it's Y but with more stuff. DexNav and AreaNav are a godsend. Storywise it's significantly better, the bad guy teams have way more character before and the worldbuilding is more fleshed out. Some people say it's more hand-holding but I think it feels more oriented.

Music is fantastic, despite/because of the trumpets being weaker than ever. The new songs are amazing.

The region is difficult to compare with Kalos. It's been remade to look really nice and the tropical influences are neat, but XY was oozing with personality and memorable locations. All those little touches like tips, cafes, musicians and painters are gone.

Postgame is better than XY, though.

No, it's exactly the same as R/S except the graphics are modernized with a few gimmicks added on. If you hated the original, you will hate the new one. Same shit different gen.

I love Sapphire. That being said, I'm really enjoying Alpha Sapphire to this point. The routes are beautiful and none too tedious.

Of course difficulty is non-existent if you have a somewhat competent team with type coverage.

A lot better actually. Aqua / Magma are a lot better (read: somewhat less retarded), water encounter rates are much lower, and your rival uses the fully evolved starter and the mega. Also, you can build your own gym. Turn off the Exp. Share when you get it.

ORAS is better than R/S in every way, but misses aspects of Emerald that might appeal to some (e.g. Battle Frontier). It's easier than R/S because although all gym leaders/etc have pretty much the same Pokémon as they did in R/S, you have access to much better movesets tahnks to the physical/special split, dexnav and just plain better learnsets.

Don't buy XY. Wait for the next version. GF should not get money for half-assing things.
