I played through OR with some Amie boosts, Exp Share off, battling every available trainer, catching mons on every route, and grinding minimally. I was always only slightly higher than my opponents' levels throughout the game.
>>22353672It's drastically different from gen 5's. In gen 5 the Experience you gain is heavily weighted in favor of evolved Pokemon. Take out a Lillipup? You get almost nothing. Take out a Herdier? Get a respectable amount of Exp. Also Audino grinding is a thing.
Gen 6 bridges the gap, making any foe give you a fair amount of exp, but also removes Audino grinding. At the same time you now get exp from catching Pokemon.
