Alright /vp/, convince me to buy a 2/3DS and ORAS.

I need to be sure it's worth the money as I don't really see myself playing much else on the 2/3DS.

Depends what will keep you playing.

Got balltism? Enjoy catching them all? Playing competitive? Shiny hunting?

If yes to all those, it's well worth the money. Otherwise, probably not. I'd suggest XY -maybe- though, it's fun to experience new pokemon and such in the wild.

Those are a few games on the 3DS that are good, there's also Fire Emblem I guess, but I haven't seen much gameplay to judge for myself.

If you're just getting it for Pokemon, then dont.

Just wait. There's enough evidence pointing towards one or two more games to end Gen 6. Get that.

If you need to play ORAS in the meantime, emulate Emerald instead.

Buy a 2DS. Its cheap.
Between X/Y and OR/AS its up to you. If you like nostalgia, get OR/AS. Its not the best game but it has its plusses like secret bases and mirage spots.
If you like a fresh game, go for X/Y. Yeah the game is short, but that means you get more time breeding and getting competitive mons.
but really anon, its your money. I aint gonna tell you how to spend it.

-Gym leaders having their r/s teams. Emerald fixed a lot of issues the original teams had

-THE FUCKING HANDHOLDING. They have your rival heal you right after the Fiery Path, despite there being a fucking healing house right there.
-Way too easy. Consider this an extension of the previous. They toned down and already piss-easy game, and that's saying something.

-No ribbons in contests till master rank
-You can't see the audience in contests
-Terrible distribution of wild pokemon
-Literally half the Routes in the game have almost identical catch lists.
-Still retains the FPS drops from x/y

-Randomly giving you a million legendaries you probably have dozens of by now anyway instead of a good new feature
-Retroactive discontinuities
-Latias is no longer a roaming legendary, it joins your team by itself
-Loading screens
-No game corner
-No trumpets
-No pokemon following you
-No poison walking
-No mirage tower
-No Sudowoodo
-No Desert Underpass
-No Artisan Cave
-No Trainer Hill
-No mach bike challenge for Sky Pillar
-Safari zone isn't Safari zone
-No berry blending
-You can no longer use Cut on grass
-No boopboopboop sounds when the two trainer's list of pokeballs are shown from the sides
-No rival battle at Rustboro City
-Mega evolutions existing
-Wallace is now a faggot
-Cosplay Pikachu existing
-Nerfed Granite Cave
-No auto-run toggle
-No GBA sounds item
-No new breeding mechanics

Add to this "you are generally behind your pokemon in contests and therefore can't see the moves as well"
Its a minor complaint I suppose, but simply being able to change the view point with the camera guy, instead of that stupid "use the view of your shitty floor or table as the background" thing it does, it would have made a huge difference in fun for me.
