Nobody's forgotten about G/S. All I was saying that IF they have to make a Kanto game again (which I don't think they should), it should be a sequel focused on Kanto, with the primary story set there (as opposed to G/S, where the primary story was in Johto).

You know what would be really cool? If they made a Kanto prequel. Like, there could be a post-game quest where you travel to Faraway Island and encounter Mew with a bunch of explorers or whatever. And the main storyline could be about Mewtwo, basically revolving around his creation, development, and then eventually him destroying the Pokemon Mansion. You have to encounter him in the Cerulean Cave, then in the post-game you catch him there.

There could also be a little insight into the formation of Team Rocket. I don't know, I think a prequel would be more interesting that a sequel or remake.

I'd like them to rebuild the battle system nearly from the ground up. But I think this will probably never happen and too many autists would freak out.

Remove or at least minimize the RNG and involve more skill in the battles. Not that strategy isn't a skill, I know that it is and there is a lot of strategy involved in pokemon. But I would like to more actively participate somehow. I'm not saying it needs to be like a fighting game or anything, but some more interactivity would be nice.

When I use a move like Scald, instead of just selecting the move and seeing what happens, it would be nice if I was able to do some minigame with my opponent for the burn chance or something. Even something as quick and simple as a rock paper scissors "Aim high/Aim low/Center Mass" type command and the opponent could select a dodge direction or something like that. I hope you guys know what I mean.

Aside from secondary effects, I wish the RNG of crits and evasion could also be addressed in some way.

Do you guys agree with me or what?

Interactivity in battles is an interesting idea. It works well in other RPGs (what immediately comes to mind for me is the Mario & Luigi series). I'm really not sure it would go over well in Pokemon, though. There's already a pretty fair amount of strategy built into the mechanics. Adding in something like timed button presses or, as you suggested, blind rock/scissors/paper chance, might be a bit too much. Maybe that kind of thing should be kept to the side-games, as opposed to the main-line RPGs. But it's an interesting thing to think about.

Well I love pokemon, but the complete lack of interactivity infuriates me. Its why I never play the game competitively, nor do I even want to. Well, one of the reasons anyways. I don't know why I've seen people on /vp/ disagree with me on that, or even outright deny it.

If I have a paralyzed pokemon attack you with fire blast, there is 4-5 instances of RNG in that one turn alone, not even counting my opponents move on that same turn.

Fully paralyzed? RNG.
Miss? RNG.
Burned? RNG.
Crit? RNG.

And if you happen to have a kings rock or razor fang on you (Granted, you probably don't, but still) that's a random flinch chance as well.

Its just frustrating that its never mitigated this at all, since gen 1. New moves, types, abilities, and held items have kept things fresh and interesting, but this still kills it for me.

The only platform you could possibly have such an extensive game on is PC. I mean think about it, you'd have to somehow come up with a ton of animations for what, 700 or so pokemon? The game would look like ass. It would only be possible with mod support.

Not to mention you couldn't possibly put every attack in the series into a fighting kind of medium, aside from ones that simply wouldn't work, there are just too many attacks. Half the fire type attacks alone would pretty much do the same thing.

you are right. flamethrower and ember would be the same animation, one would just have more dmg added to it. loads of attacks could be done like this. sure the move pool would shrink a bit but you can only use 4 at a time anyway. start with the gen1 pokes and work up selling a new game each year with the new pokes and abilities. the pokemon game is now remade for another two decades.

Even gen 1 alone would be 151 different characters. You'd pretty much have to use only fully evolved pokemon in this game, and even then, that's still a roster of over 200 characters. Either they would all be copy/pasted and look like ass, or well... that's your only option. Its too many characters. I don't even think you could do that on Wii U, obviously not on a handheld.

maybe the prequel can in a recon way explain how team rocket discovered mega evolutions by experimentation on mewtwo, charmander, bulbasaur, and squirtle (a nice nod to the movies there as well).
They could release a ticket event where we go to mew's island and you know, finally release a legit mew again.

The problem with it being team rocket's back story, is you'd have to have some other outside force pressuring the creation of team rocket. Maybe Ho-oh and Lugia are fucking things up in a global scale, or "the war" that keeps getting referenced "might be coming to our shores, so we need to recruit people for a defensive organization" and then it just shows how propaganda can be used to manipulate people and the war was always going to stay in poke france and not come here at all, but now all these scientists and thugs are banded together so they just bully the locals for profit.

RNG for crits and the slight variation that occurs in damage I can understand but the other thing is kind of dumb and would just be annoying and tedious in practice I think.
What they do need to do is do something to the effect of what you said when it comes to capturing Pokemon. Spamming ultra balls over and over at legendary Pokemon should have been changed a long time ago, and not by giving them ridiculously low catch rates.

You experience all of the storylines, and there's some creative way in which you can experience them all at the same time.

Something along the lines of teleportation and time travel, which are both very possible in the pokemon universe.

Japanese Pikachu and non-Japanese Yellow changed things and have exclusive NPCs that don't appear in any other game.

Gold and Silver, Crystal, and HeartGold and SoulSilver are direct sequels set primarily in the Johto region 3 years later.

There is no Kanto plot set 10 years in the future after the original plot. You most likely played a fake game and are associating it with the real thing. After all, the "buy it or die" message comes from fake games.

FRLG and HGSS are better than the originals. ORAS is subjective because people were hyping an Emerald remake when it was a RS one.

Yeah I finally played FR/LG on an emulator and I liked it enough. Felt a lot of nostalgia and felt they fixed a lot of problems from the originals.
I thoroughly enjoyed OR for some reason. It actually pushed me to complete my Dex and start MMing. I guess since I never played Emerald having OR missing stuff from it didn't bother me
I guess I wish I would stop buying remakes and focus more on completing brand new games but it's kind of a moot point when a lot of new games I play can hardly keep me interested enough to beat them.(in general not Pokemon)
