Rhydon's line is based on "evolution," in the fundamental sense of the word
We have Rhyhorn, a rhinoceros-like pokemon that has a one track mind of tackling anything. The large spikes and spines and the shape of its head are reminiscent of dinosaurs, and thus, we are given something primal, an animal in every sense of the word.
Rhydon has begun to lose its features that defined its dinosaur likeliness: The spikes no longer cover its body, and have shrunk. The ridges that defined its face have rounded out and what are left are ear-like protrusions, leaving a sapien-like head shape. It stands on its hind legs, and now has thumbs. Here we begin to see signs of human-made objects in its design: the rotating drill that replaced the horn that defines a rhinoceros.
Spikes and spines, a defensive measure for animals, are replaced with defensive measures humans are accustomed to: protective outerwear, which has become one with Rhyperior. What was left of the primal aspect of Rhyhorn, the ridges that defined its face that were reduced to ears and its spikes are covered over by modern protection. Ironically, Rhyperior developed the tail of an anklyosaur, most likely to help keep balance when it attacks. These augmentations, including the offensive measures of adding in more drills and air gun arms is reminiscent of transhumanism.
What is interesting is that some of these augmentations still evoke something earthly, as a tie back to its typing: the armor and the club tail look like boulders, and the "pistons" on its arms look like stalactites.
The darker skin, orange armor on its head and the shape of its arms totally looks like Big O. Being 'judged by God' to pilot a megadeus implies the deus in question is the mech passing judgement, which can be seen as a callback of utilizing technology to ascend ourselves past our humanity (transhumanism)
