There are other places than Smogon. Smogon's generally considered the "main" competitive scene, but there's PO, VGC, Battle spot, etc.. Plenty of options.

Now, you WILL be seeing a lot of Kangaskhans and really annoying shit there, but if you're cool with that and just want to team craft and play with it regardless of Smogon meta, then go for it. No shame in that.

Sableye's probably the best bet for that. Priority WoW, immune to it's STAB and can Recover. I've also found success in scarf-Hydreigon, as it resists Sucker Punch. Of course the latter is in no way a counter, only a soft check.

M-Sala, and M-Blaziken (assuming you set up first) may also work.

Flinching's hardly the biggest issue. It's also got to be faster than 100 base speed, and either have high defense or resist Dark.

Why don't you want to follow smogon's rules? The only reason I hate smogon is that their moderators think they're high and mighty, and generally refuse to even consider the viability of pokemon they deem RU/UU. The rules are fine though, and the bans are fine too. You should use Smogon's rules, but just stay away from the community. It's simple.

nothing is forced into lower tiers, its based on usage, instead of being forced to only use high tier pokemon, you can use your favourites in tiers where they are viable

Look, I like doubles as much as the next guy, but doubles centralizes a handful of pokemon FAR more than singles. Some pokemon are just simply built better for multi-faceted field control and options in doubles. The usage statistics are proof of that.

Doesn't mean shit is broken, but it's much more exclusive to other mon's.

Not him, but I think what he means is that mod's on the site will disregard arguments for a pokemon's viability if it's lower on the usage list. Just because something's not OU, it doesn't mean it's not VIABLE in OU under certain conditions. (Hell, just about half of UU is perfectly useable in the OU environment, but I digress). The Smogon moderators often dismiss arguments about viability without giving them proper analysis, simply due to preconceived notions.

Why aren't they OU? Because scrubs playing cookie-cutter sets on the lower end of the ladder don't play them.

Why would kids even use Megamom? It doesn't exactly appeal to that demographic, only the people with a grasp of competitive would spam it because of how strong it is. If I wanted to beat kids on Battlespot I'd probably pack multiple M-Luke and M-Blaziken checks before anything else.

Each gen has proportionately similar bans. I think a lot of what makes them seem ban-happy is that they do a lot of thorough testing and retesting (for instance, both in 5th and 6th gen, Deo-D and Deo-S were both tested for a pretty long time in OU before being banned), leading to re-bans, long discussion periods, and shitposting from butthurt anti-ban people.
They really don't ban very many things.

Most of the bans are reasonable. There aren't that many banned Pokemon outside of the core legendaries, and most of the ones that are really are truly broken/cancerous in one way or another. The only exceptions include Genesect and Aegislash.

You've never played smog dubs. No one uses seismic toss Kangaskhan, for one thing. The only "tutor" (well it's an event move but w/e) move I would call possibly a problem is Follow Me Jirachi, but that's only because of Mega Mence.

Bring six pick four is personal preference but I really dislike it because it feels like playing half a battle. Half of your team is on the field on the first turn, battles start getting good and then they just end.
