Currently fighting against scouts who were hiding while their Pokemon blocked the advance, the Black Mage was also currently unconscious. His Spiritomb was doing the directing for him, leading one of his glitch Pokemon into battle - the one he'd stolen from one of his current temporary allies, actually. Thankfully that temporary ally was also unconscious.

The enemy Xatu had lashed out with a Psychic attack, but the glitch's alien mind was able to deflect it. A crackling force from the darkness around the battlefield passed close to the totem bird.

With the initial pass done with most of the Airborne group split off, one group taking the long route back to the base but the second doing another flyby to check the results of the battle.

They drew near the group not long after they reboarded the Snake, the sound of Buzzing again as the airborne units passed over again in the opposite direction, this time luckily lacking the Bug Master onboard it. But unluckily with their own weapons out and ready instead.

Erco was surprised by another combatant, perhaps the one from before? it was hard to tell in the rain, coming to their aid. Their motives eluded him, but for the moment help would not be a bad thing.

The powerful water attack, aimed at the gliscor it held type advantage for, would not hit its intended foe. Despite looking rather slow, cradily was actually very adept at moving along beaches and muddy terrain, and it threw itself into the way of the strike. As the blast of water smashed into it, the plant absorbed it without a single wound being taken. In fact, it seemed to glow as if empowered by the strike.

The inclusion of another distraction gave them an opening Erco sought to capitalize on. "Emiko. We need to move, if we stay put we'll be cut off and surrounded. Come on!" The bodyguard called out as he moved to her side, and motioned for her and their pokemon to come along with them down the muddy road - the only way out.

"Stall them up with a giga drain." He also said. The prehistoric plant swung around and tried to dig its tentacles into the water type to drain its life force...before it moved to follow the trainer. It actually had a pretty easy time of this, being able to glide on the muck.

The attack missed, again. Unfortunate, but it seemed that Emiko lacked the luck in battle that had been bestowed upon her father.

But this was not the time to be worrying about luck and hitting or missing. Now was the time to run. And run Emiko did, grabbing her things and joining her bodyguard as they began their rapid descent down the mountain, using his Cradily and her Gliscor as cover to aid their escape.

The thundery attack went wide as the bird flapped higher, the icy beam only slightly slowing it down before it was joined by another bird and, of all things, a Smergle... who tossed a series of stones out into the field before hopping away again.

The Noctowl itself merely flew over the group before locking eyes as it scanned the Spiritomb.

The series of attacks brought the FIghting Tadpole down low, and the Claydol little better.

Still in the distraction the other pokemon managed to attempt a grab at the Cradilyto toss it right back at it's trainer.

Though the sudden attempt at fleeing did little to disturb him as he looked towards the Vampire. "Looks like now you'll never get your hands on it." He said before taking off as well, it's pokemon mostly standing between the other.

Erco found himself struggling to keep up with the person he was supposed to be protecting, the girl was much more fleet of foot than she seemed. Fortunately his reflexes were pretty sharp, as one of those pokemon picked up and hurled his, very heavy, stone tight straight at him. The only way to not be steamrolled by the thing was to recall it, which he did. Thinking fast, he drew the next pokeball from his belt and sent out whatever was in it.

This turned out to be excadrill, who was immediately irked at the rain it was sent out in.

But that wasn't too bad of a choice considering there were people seemingly waiting for them. And if anyone was good at making breaches, it was this pokemon.

"Get that man out of our way, drill run!"

Unlike cradily this pokemon was also very fast, and it launched off the ground in a corkscrew-like attack towards the grunt. If it didn't hit, Erco hoped it'd make him dive for cover.

"We need to west and south to reach Goldenrod, the largest city in the area. Likely also the safest."

For the moment he looked towards the exits, and there was silence as he did. "Do you need me to carry you? We do not have time to rest." At last was asked.

For now his excadrill stood on the defense, peering back behind them in the way they had 'came'. Sitting so close to that didn't feel safe, so it remained on overwatch, ready to pounce anyone that came through it to give chase.

The shot pinged off of excadrill's steel armor this time, protected by its typing. Both it and its trainer pushed flat to the wall on reflex to take cover from wherever that shooter was taking shots from. In Erco's case, he took Emiko with him and made certain that he was between her and the stone so that in the event of another hit, it'd nail him instead.

He looked around for smoke if there was any, and he fired a short burst of mauser ammo from his pistol up towards the direction that the sound could best be pinpointed to come from. Even if it didn't clip anyone he hoped it'd make them keep their heads down to know they faced another armed foe.

Looking around he noticed a few entrances to caves, the ruins proper, a few heavily damaged buildings, and a small pond. Along with that woods surrounded the area. He couldn't be certain that those caves lead to a way out, and he didn't have anything with surf. So instead he moved towards the treeline and motioned for the rest of his company to do the same, where they'd at least have those for cover as they made their way towards the other other exit on the eastern side. There they could ditch their attackers in Violet city before moving to Goldenrod.

The shot wouldn't be repeated again but as they tried to get through the woods the trees woudl seem to feel almost oppressive, the underbrush parting into multiple paths which seemed to twist and turn every which way... something wasn't right here.

Though the real horror would have been if they had looked behind them to the figure walking towards the tree line.

And as if to add insult to injury, a strange force would surround them before passing on.

The woods themselves seemed hostile to their entry, but they had to press on. As long as they didn't get turned around, the next city over wasn't that far away. Supposing even if they did they'd still wind up back on the main road sooner or later, but it'd be easier to navigate that from a town than in the middle of the road with no landmarks.

The man scowled when he saw, what he assumed was, their assault from before step out of hiding in front of them; somehow having got ahead. And to make things worse he felt eyes on his back, and glanced over the shoulder just in time to see someone else coming up from the other direction.

"We're surrounded. Take cover."

Erco moved behind a tree and tried to take a pot shot behind him that was met with an unsatisfying click that meant only one thing. Jam. He moved swiftly to fix whatever gremlin had suddenly assailed him.

Since excadrill still had plenty of forward momentum he lunged towards the spy and launched into another Drill Run. If he was fast he'd be able to send out a pokemon in time to block it, but for now Erco just wanted to put him on the defense.

"If you can deal with the one behind us." He called to the girl, in hopes one soldier would be an easier target that the extremely odd man in front.

The bat-scorpion swiftly dove through the treeline, using the (un)natural twists and turns of the bramble to give the attack more momentum as it flung itself to and fro in the air.

Emiko heard the sounds of someone readying their weapon, before they opened fire with a salvo that would have killed a less aware person. But Emiko had grown up hearing the sounds of the weapon being hefted by her attacker, and she knew to duck before they opened fire with a short burst from their MG-42 machine gun. With her father as obsessive a collector as he was, it was a noise she had grown familiar to. In any other circumstance, it probably would have reminded her of home.

But she was, as the attacker said, awfully far from home, and now was not the time to be feeling nostalgic for father's collection. The other man's voice was close, closer than Emiko would have liked, and he seemed at once to be in many places at the same time. This, combined with his lethal weapon, made him a dangerous enemy, one to be taken far more seriously than the others in this bizarre adventure.

Emiko lay low to the ground, not speaking, barely breathing; she could hear the other man pacing around her, but she dared not tempt her luck to try and discover his location. Carefully, she began to crawl through the brush, still keeping low.

The brush gave her a modicum of cover, but she knew that it provided her enemy with just as much cover. He was dangerous; too dangerous, and if she made any misjudgement, it would be her end for sure.

As quietly as she could, she cracked one of her suitcases open, grabbing another sphere. In a flash, Skorgro was gone, replaced with a massive golden shield. "Durengard, get behind him and use shadow sneak."

The shield disappeared into the brush, reappearing behind the machine gun-wielding assailant as a golden sword, furiously thrusting itself at the target.

The riveting roar of a machine gun going off behind him made Erco tense, that gun was clearly not an illusion. He ducked as stray rounds carved through foliage, some a little too close for comfort.

He really grimaced when the strange man before him sent out a wobbuffet, both from it's terrifying powers of counterattack, and the shadows swirling around them to form a sort of cage. This just got bad. Both the trainer and his excadrill looked at one another with a sidelong glance that said something akin to 'you thinking what I'm thinking?' and 'one of us is going to get fucked'.

"We'll see how good you are at it then." The Swiss man said to the opposing trainer.

With a nod of the head exca dove to the left and then struck forward in what looked like another drill run. But it wasn't, it ended its charge short and dug its claws into the earth and hurled a barrage of stones at the wobbuffet in an attempt to feint it.

But this entire move was a diversion. The bodyguard dove to the side at once to try and get a shot in at it's tail, firing off a round at its weak point. If nothing else, it'd only be able to counterattack one of them. Just in case Erco struck first.

The voice went silent as the sword pokemon was sent out, the soldier turning the moment the blade flashed to attack, the stab slicing deep into the man's clothing before meeting a heavy crack against the metallic armor hidden under it... Yet at this close of a range it was enough to send his aim everywhere, the gunfire spraying the forest and eventually even the pokemon itself if it wasn't quick enough.

Yet even as the first voice went silent the second called out as well, looming close.
"Nice cases you have there, but you might want to watch your hands."
A flash of steel would be the only warning she'd have before a knife would fly into the second case, knocking it out of her hands unless she was quick enough.

The other man made no move as he awaited the other's attacks, both hands behind his back, but as the rock slide hit and the other made the shot he took action as well, his own pistol coming out as he fired two shots back towards Erco and rolled to the left.

"Cheap move." He said as he recovered to one knee. "Not bad."

The weak damage from the rockslide was still enough for the pokemon to fire back with it's own counter attack, ignoring the other battles raging around it.
