Pokemon evolve when they get a certain amount of experience. You gotta catch em all. Certain people believe in different pokemon as deities. Having a stone on your wrist and he changes for a few minutes in appearance and ability is dumb.

Who cares about lore. Megas make sense because Gamefreak realizes that a big portion of their following now cares about the multiplayer aspect (due to older ages and improved connectivity.) Megas allow them to make mediocre but popular shitmons viable/broken, but don't actually change them ("no you don't have to permanently evolve your bro, it's just temporary and he changes back into good old [species name].") It also got around the problem of Eviolite being a potential problem.

It was a pretty good marketing move on their part.

You "care" about them because it makes you feel good and/or because they "care" about you which also makes you feel good.

You don't love them, you don't love anyone but yourself.
They enable you to love yourself.

I think it would be kinda cool if they used Mega Evolution as a new evolution method. Like a pokemon who currently only has two stages of evolution, for exemple let's take Raticate. So we give it a third stage of evolution, and to reach it, you must Mega Evolve it. After Mega Evolving once, when it returns to normal, instead of reverting to Raticate, it evolves into a new evolution. Of course, that new evolution can also Mega Evolve like Raticate did with the same stone and into the same Mega Evolution.

There have been stone evolutions since gen 1 and forme changes since gen 3. Mega evos are basically those two things. What >>22389129 is correct.
