Holy fucking shit. Fuck the encounter rates in ORAS.

I've been fishing for a Corphish with a Good Rod in the route with the day care for over an hour (almost 200 successful pulls) and I just found a shiny fucking Goldeen before I could find a SINGLE CORPHISH. What is the FUUUUCKING DEAL HERE.

I DONT WANT A SHINY GOLDEEN. I WANT A REGULAR CORPHISH SO I CAN CONTINUE MY MONO DARK RUN.

No, I don't want to wait until Mossdeep for the Super Rod. I want to have a team of more than three fucking Pokémon before the sixth goddamn gym.

Damn right, I'm mad. I am in RNG hell right now, burning at the stake.

It's an absolute shit chance without the super rod. You're better off waiting until you get surf and getting a corphish off the GTS so you can just Dex Nav for the right one.

I'm sorry, where's the flaw here? Maybe because I wasn't fucking shiny hunting, I'm just trying to catch a god forsaken Corphish. My team is mono Dark, every move would've KO'ed the slutty goldfish except my Cacturne's Leech Seed. Any better suggestions?

How are encounter rates measured in the game?

Does every patch of grass have a list of Pokemon that are scheduled to appear and you just have to encounter everything until you get to the Pokemon you want or is it like a patch of grass will RNG a certain Pokemon with certain natures and stats?

I believe the game RNGs whether or not there's an encounter when you step on a tile of grass, then what species, IV, etc. It's specific for each time unit or frame. Try saving and walking in grass till you encounter something. Load the save, walk around again, etc, to see if you find a different species. Catch and check IVs if you have to.

The encounter rates for the "rarer" fished Mons were 20% in RS. In ORAS they're 5%. Yeah, it sucks.
