Not really a hack, but I'm playing this thing at the moment.
Disappointed in the fact the stuff you catch doesn't change form after evolving but the game is overall nice, or at least better than the average rom hack, that doesn't say much though, since the average rom hack is terrible.

The main feature though is the awesome metagame system, you can see IVs, manage EVs, breeding is piss easy, move relearner is a menu function, you can change abilities whenever you want etc.

What is the point? We can easily emulate Platinum now. It isn't a demake since it mimics gen 4 so closely instead of embracing the gen it is remade on. It seems more like a tech showcase than anything else. A perfect representation and culmination of pokecommunity's "feature focus" philosophy.

Nah, I'm not Agastya, he's probably messing with the translations right now.

Pic related has zen mode, but unlike being useless like Darmanitan she's first a bulky physical attacker, ensuring this way to not die in one hit, then she becomes a fast and frail physical sweeper. Bretty gud imo.

Once I got up to the Pokés in lvl 20 I didn't know were to go, it was a creepy thing and eventually I find something that wipe me out.

I weren't able to try and fight that thing again and left that game. It was hard as fuck.

Able to catch every pokemon in the game, and adds just enough original content to be entertaining but not distracting.

The Altair/Sirius/Vega/Procyon/Deneb guys seem to know how to write okay story for a Pokémon game, though only Altair/Sirius have been translated so far - the fact they chose to retain Gen III's story events mean they're not the best examples of their work.

This is probably a really easy thing, but I really haven't done much with sprite editing before. I've taken this picture, replaced all of the colours with firered pallete 6, and made a test one 16x32 just like any regular sprite. When I export the test one as a 16 bit bitmap it just makes it all grey though. What am I doing wrong?

The main advantage of hacking Gen II is the fact there's a split disassembly - it's only in the past couple of days that someone has started working on one for Gen III.

I suspect what puts a lot of people off is the mechanics are just too old. As much as I might bemoan Gen III Sturdy being useless or not having Snow Warning, Gen III is a whole lot easier to make acceptably modern mechanically than Gen II. (Gen II still used a byte to index Pokémon, for crying out loud.)
