The gen V designs are very split down the middle, you have the amazing ones like haxorus, then you have *shudders* ones like cubchoo. Gen V did have some great designs, but it also has some of the worst designs ever.

Gen 5's are the opposite of gen 1's. Gen 5 pokemon tend to either be great or shit in design with little middle ground, gen 1 designs are almost all just ok, with very few stand outs in either the great or shit camps. I think this has to do with gen 1s simpler and safer designs.

Playing it safe ensured that only a few of them sucked, but barely any of them stand out to me and shout 'Get me on your in game team!' either.

As far as Ghost pokemon go, there's some liberties, but it seems a bit too much for a possessed ancient golem soldier to actually be a containable, trainable creature, instead of some sort of power force or independent spirit.

That's why I prefer my pokemon animalistic from a game standpoint, I just sit so much more right with things I'd easily believe could be animal analogues.

I've always loved just the entire design of everything in Hoenn

I didn't much like GenIV designs but V was a big step up
VI is decent percentage wise but I still prefer V, but there were simply more new pokemon in V so there is more to choose from

You see, half of those are good to great and the other half are shit to decent. And the rest of the dex is pretty much shit. That's why people say that they don't like the designs of gen 5.
It has some fucking great designs like Gigalith, Bisharp, and Chandelure - but it has some absolute shit mons like Scraggy, Throh/Sawk, and Mienshao not to mention the dog line, the pigeon line, the ice cream line, the trash line, and the gear line.

Jesus gen IV pokemon were awful, II was forgetable aside from one or two standouts, and I was just painfully safe and mediocre
