Tried chaining with dexnav to get a shiny minun but I'm over like 250. Is everyone else taking a long time? Any tips for a better/faster chaining method?

Despite being 140 hours into the game, having chained to up to 200 mons and bred several boxes of Zangoose with a japanese Ditto, I have yet to encounter one shiny pokemon.
Back in Y, I caught a shiny Croagunk before the 4th gym and had about 17 other shinies.
Did they mess with the encounter rate?

so would it be worth it to just gather boxes of eggs in ORAS where I have both charms and them take them to X and hatch them in Lumiose? It's determined at "birth" if they're shiny or not right? Lumiose is just a way better route than outside the battel resort

It's determined upon hatching, when the SID is compared to your Trainer ID. Shiny Charm just doubles the "true" values for that comparison. In other words, moving them over will eliminate the benefit of the charm. Sorry bruh.

Just started ORAS, but already looking to hunt for Shinies because I'm a collection whore.

That said, I don't yet have access to Repels yet to experiment, but reading up on Dexnav Chaining, chains can be broken by encounters with wild mons (i.e. not the one you're hunting). Can you interact with Hidden Pokemon while under the effect of Repel?

I'm MMing for a shiny pawniard and am only about three boxes in when I notice something odd. The female was a lvl 1, Japanese pawniard and the male was a lvl 1 chimchar, neither has any egg moves. None of the other ninety or so pawniards I have any egg moves... except this one. I'd post a pic, but 4chan isn't letting me. He knows Pursuit, Sucker Punch, and Revenge, along with scratch, which they all know. WTF? Can someone explain this to me?

Learnsets don't have any bearing on egg moves unless the mon are removed and put back in. Even then, neither Chimchar or Pawniard learn those three moves naturally.

As >>22412081 suggested, Toxicroak actually does learn all three of them and is the only mon in their egg group that does naturally.

Just take it slow. 250 resets or so a night while browsing the internet or watching movies. It doesn't take too much effort, luckily. Though if I had known it would take this long, I wouldn't have even considered it.

Haven't posted here in weeks, haven't had any time to hunt this last few months.
Decided to start up my cobalion hunt again, done about 3000srs in white 2 with no success.
Done about 140 srs last night and 80 today, and caught this in omega ruby!
It's also got 31ivs in Hp, Defense and Speed, so I'm happy with that!

Yes it can, it's been proved many times.
I got a shiny latias that way in AS, it's just that it won't show up with its shiny palette in the overworld until it joins your party.

Just found this guy in Leaf Green.
I know I'm on emulator but it's still great to find a shiny. I'm going to transfer it to Gen 5 eventually anyway through Desmume.
