transferred to yellow version,
after beating the game took the trip to gold.
after beating gold transferred to crystal version.

I was so fucking pissed i couldn't transfer my EV trained no rare candy team to gen III, I quit pokemon until many years later

Honorable mentions go to Masquerain and Mightyena, who I've never really thought much of before, but have shown to be my most valuable teammates throughout ORAS, largely contributing to wins against Wattson, Norman, Winona, and Steven, as well as catching Kyogre. Double Intimidate is a super fun strategy.

there is actually.
rare candies boost level without increasing stats as much as you would get through fighting.

although not as robust as in later games,
EV training by hand was still a thing in the first two games.

IVs were added in GEN 2

if you battle a team that actually grinded for exp instead of using rare candies then you would lose.

"Effort values" are given when you gain a level from battling. these value points are not awarded if rare candies are used.

so yes, you DID have to EV train your monsters.

He became my bro when I finally figured out what my favorite type was. Played through every pokemon game at least once with a beldum as my started and loved that shit, hes always had my back and was the first pokemon I bred to be shiny. To this day me and my bro shred through competitive.

However I find it a little harder to use competitively, seeings you pretty much need to set up an agility.

Just been an absolute bro in any games I've used him in. Snovers a cute shit so that helps. Ever since Diamond, I've just loved the design of both. Got one in wonder trade at the start of the game, I picked Torchic for a starter. The snover had giga drain, so Abomasnow just saved my ass. Fucked drake over pretty well, too.
