I made a living dex on XY. I started with just doing the regional dexes which took up like 450 pokemon. Then just got the remaining ~260 from my old games. For ORAS thoguh it really helps if you have X/Y as the missing pokemon compliment each other well enough that the vast majority of the dex can be done with just those 2 games.
