Zoroark's Illusion is useful in theory, but loses a lot of it's power when you consider that Zoroark itself isn't all that threatening. However having a legitimately powerful pokemon be disguised for one turn can either help insure a play or setup for a sweep.
Of course once you get metagame theory with it, things change a bit but what matters is the potential is there, and even beyond the gimmick, having a hypothetical good Mega still gives it use.
