I'm the doujin anon from yesterday. I wrote up a guide. Hope this helps the anons who were interested, assuming they're still here.
So, you want to buy a doujin? Well, I’m here to help.
There’s lots of different reasons for wanting to buy these neat little books. Maybe you’re sick of seeing books you are interested in not get scanned. Maybe you want to support the artist. Maybe you just like to have a physical piece of merchandise. The bottom line is, you want something, and you don’t know how to get it.
To start things off, go make a Pixiv account. Any artist worth their salt has an account on Pixiv. Browse Pixiv for artist that you like. Check their history to see if they’ve ever been to Comiket. This is pretty easy to tell. If they have a doujin cover with something like “C84” or “C87” in the title, it means they sold that book at Comiket 84 and Comiket 87 respectively.
So what is Comiket? Comiket is one of the largest (if not THE largest) Doujin show in Japan. Artists gather for three days to sell their doujins to the public; the event is always held in the middle of August and the end of December. It’s a pretty big deal for doujin circles. Comiket has a web catalog located here:
https://webcatalog-free.circle.ms/. To be clear, this is NOT a store. This is simply a list and map detailing who will be at the event, and where they’ll be.
