Can we talk training methods?

I know it's faster to do the hordes, but I feel like it's just not as through as super training. Currently ev training a freshly hatched Cottonee. It's obviously slow to start but I'm more than half way through defense already with speed already dealt with, so the hump is just about over.
Any tips? Suggestions? What do you guys do to train? What's your end-all perfect training method?
