wow seriously box gen 5 starters, they are all terrible.

Just level a lillipup for 5 minutes and steamroll everything. use the monkey on the wonder triplet's monkey if you have to (seriously even if you use it at default level 10 you'll still SE the gym leader's lvl 14 into the ground)

Speaking of Gen 5. I'm currently playing through White for the first time. I just want to get through the game/story and move on to White 2 (then the 3DS games), but I need help picking my team.

There are a lot of good Pokemon apparently. Here's my team so far:
Dewott, Troh, Drillbur, Herdier. I was looking to add Darumaka down the road and then add a special attacker Pokemon. Again, this is just for the game, will probably not do any post game-stuff (other than Elite 4 again + Champion). Some initial Concerns:
-My Drillbur's Def and SpDef are really low at this point (level 18), I really want to keep him for that lvl 36 Earthquake though.
-I've thought many times that I'd get rid of Lilipup/Herdier but I've been surprised how good it is. Crunch will probably help me at E4 and I can have Stoutland relearn Ice Fang and such.
-Adding Darumaka will make my team almost All Physical. Dewott is for special attacks but he learns Physical Water attacks.
Finally, I want to get a Liligant for my special attacker, plus another special attacker, psychic maybe, so I have to get rid of 1 spot on my team. Which psychic pokemon do you guys recommend?

Add Jellicent. It kicks ass, and will cover your Fighting/Fire/Water weaknesess. It can also surf and a ghost is always handy.

dumped him at lvl 35 and never touched him again

I hate using starters in general, but yea a Stoutland and/or a Liepard are far more solid and fun to use

but Chandelure is so squishy and has so many weaknesses I'm really thinking of dumping it for a Dragon or something

some of them I breezed through and others would tottaly wipe me over and over with my team

hell I've had random trainers almost wipe my team just due to dumb ass shit like Moxie 1HKO and me trying to level a weak mon
