Help me build a team

In the past, my competitive teams were just six Pokemon thrown together. I want to start putting synergy into my teams, but I don't know where to begin. So I'll start with one of my favorite Pokemon I have used in the past, and that's this Breloom:

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Substitute
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Drain Punch

This is the funnest set I've ever used, and no other Pokemon can pull it off. I want to build a team around this guy, so where should I begin?

Basically what you have to do is to take one Pokemon to base your team around, then try to get another one with a good typing to switch in case there's a thread to your main one (in this case would be shit like Talonflame), then do the same with this second Pokemon and repeat until you're done. Be sure to also have some coverage moves; don't rely only on STAB as it can make your team quite frail.

Hey guys, I might as well post here.

I'm not a very competitive pokémon player - I vomit Smogon - but I like to have a team that can handle its own beyond the NPC trainers, and I like to have a unique team each game that I form mostly on whims.

In X/Y my team was pretty great against strangers no matter how many legendaries they crammed in theirs, it helped that I ended up with a Garchomp, a Togekiss and the excellent surprise Hawlucha.

This time around I'm struggling a lot to pull off even 5 wins, it doesn't help that the legendaries are pretty god damn overkill in OR/AS (looking at you, Rayquaza) so much so that even children having no idea what they're doing end up beating me.
However my picks were not so lucky to begin with and my team needs a lot of work.
The only good find is a god-sent totodile in wondertrade.

It goes as follows:
Feraligatr
Gardevoir
Skarmory
Whimsicott
Ninetales
Linoone

Obviously Linoone, the HM slave / garbage picker needs to go but I also intend to ditch Gardevoir who I already used recently.

It'd help a lot if you had any suggestions.
I often regret not having a single electric move and I sure could use more fighting ones, those are my personal concerns after a couple of fights.

When it comes down to it, you might have to drop your favourites for mons that can do better than it. Using a poor man's version of it only seeks your demise, and that's what will kill you in the end.
Something such as Feraligatr is nothing but a poor man's Gyarados, so using the latter would be more efficient than using the former.
If you can't be willing to accept that, then you won't have the right mindset of winning.

I'm fine with not having the optimal mons.
I'm not asking for minmaxing tutos but suggestions for (at least) two new mons that would fit somewhat nicely in this team.

Well go with what you like man.
You can always go on Smogon and check which sets you can use to maximize its potential if you want too. It's really up to you, unless you're trying to go for a theme team.

If I were you I'd ditch something for gengar. A fast ghost with great coverage would work well with you.
