He has some nice balanced offensive stats aswell as a good speed tier

Too bad powercreep and speedcreep has left him in the dust. I'm pretty sure if he gets a mega his stats will have buffs in both offenses and speed.

Emboar is the only Fire type starter I liked and the one I actually really really really liked.

Venusaur used to hold that place but is still a good fave, Torterra a close follower.

Feraligatr is a pretty good water type, too. Just not up there like the three.

Venusaur. Life's been good to my cabbage-frog-dinosaur. It's been solid bro since Gen 1, despite years and years of power creep.

Honorable mentions go to:
* Typhlosion despite its general shitty-ness
* Sceptile despite the Christmas tree
* Torterra because just fucking look at it
* nothing from Gen 5 except for the base stagers, which are all top-tier
* and nothing from Gen 6 because they're garbage.

All of the Gen 4 starters were good imo. They looked cool too. Probably the only Gen where I couldn't pick a starter based on looks, but had to settle for Chimchar due to lack of fire pokemon.

Maybe if they had gotten better movepools they wouldn't be so bad. Feraligatr isn't too bad either but it's outclassed by other water types and sheer force is just begging to be released. Swampert is great but isn't as common as it used to be.

Back in gen 4 though Infernape and Swampert were pretty good until newer pokes came and stole their glory. I don't understand why GF won't improve some starters like Typhlosion and Serperior without having to rely on a single predictable strategy.
